Movies Gallery Critics' Choice Awards: We Grade the Looks Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence and Ben Affleck won big, but how did they score on the red carpet? By Bronwyn Barnes Published on January 11, 2013 06:00PM EST Close 01 of 16 Anne Hathaway in Oscar de la Renta Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Anne Hathaway, who took home the award for Best Supporting Actress, lit up the carpet in a metallic beaded gown. Her look was much simpler than the edgy ensembles she's been testing out lately, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. B+ 02 of 16 Jessica Chastain in Prada Christopher Polk/Getty Images Chastain's crimson gown complemented her fiery hair, red lips and Harry Winston ruby stud earrings — not to mention the red carpet — but the overall effect was a little too safe. C+ 03 of 16 Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford Larry Busacca/Getty Images Bradley Cooper accepted the award for Best Acting Ensemble on behalf of the cast of Silver Linings Playbook. We'd like to present him with the award for best dressed leading man. A 04 of 16 Jennifer Lawrence in Prabal Gurung Gregg DeGuire/WireImage Last night marked the fourth time in a row Lawrence has worn black on the red carpet, and this one isn't my favorite of her recent walks on the dark side. Let's hope she opts for something a little more colorful — and a better hairstyle — for Sunday's Golden Globes. B 05 of 16 Amy Adams in Vionnet Jason Merritt/Getty Images See what you started, Angelina Jolie? Amy Adams showed off her gams in a draped Vionnet gown. I get that it's ''unstructured,'' but it just looks too big for her small frame. C+ 06 of 16 Matthew McConaughey in Dolce and Gabbana Kevin Mazur/WireImage We all loved seeing Matthew McConaughey in various states of undress in Magic Mike, but if he has to put on clothes, this classic tux and bow tie is the way to go. B+ 07 of 16 Amanda Seyfried in Marios Schwab Frazer Harrison/Getty Images The lace top of Amanda Seyfried's dress wasn't perfect, but the chiffon skirt was heavenly. Too bad she weighed it down with those black strappy Roger Vivier heels. C 08 of 16 Marion Cotillard in Zuhair Murad Couture Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic The actress was a breath of fresh air in a floral embellished A-line frock, which she paired with Jimmy Choo sandals. It's a risk-taking look, but she sold it. A- 09 of 16 Emily Blunt in Miu Miu, and John Krasinski in Calvin Klein Jordan Strauss/AP The actress, in a creamy, retro-inspired dress — which featured a crystal-studded neckline and crisscross back — looked even more glamorous next to her husband, who wore a dapper navy notch lapel suit. B 10 of 16 Quvenzhane Wallis in David Meister Signature Kevin Mazur/WireImage Though the pint-sized Oscar nominee carried a cell phone that matched her pretty pink (designer!) dress, I kept wondering why she wasn't carrying one of her signature doggy bags. A 11 of 16 Naomi Watts in Emilio Pucci Christopher Polk/Getty Images Watts is on fire this week! After dazzling the crowd at the People's Choice Awards, the Impossible actress stunned in black Emilio Pucci gown with a plunging sheer v-neckline. A 12 of 16 Ben Affleck Frazer Harrison/Getty Images The Best Director honoree accessorized his basic black suit with hands covered in doodles — most likely drawn by his daughters Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 4. (Altogether now; Awww.) I just wish someone would tell him the facial hair is not cute. C- 13 of 16 Helen Hunt in Philip Armstrong Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Helen Hunt usually blends into the background on the red carpet, but the Sessions actress surprised me when she showed up in one of the hottest dresses of the night; a capped sleeved gown with sexy lace cutouts. A 14 of 16 Eddie Redmayne Kevin Mazur/WireImage Love the pocket square, but everything else about the Les Miserables star's look was meh. D 15 of 16 Clea Duvall in Tadashi Shoji Frazer Harrison/Getty Images This gown looks like something January Jones wore to the Emmys five years ago. And I'm all for revealing a little skin, but in this case cut-outs are just too much. D 16 of 16 Sally Field Michael Kovac/WireImage Lincoln star Sally Field was yet another lady in red taking on the night in a long sleeved dress and black accessories. While I wouldn't suggest she wear an Herve Leger bandage dress, it would be great to see her in something a little less stuffy at the Golden Globes. C'mon Sally, 66 is still sexy! C+
