Movies Gallery Emmys Style: He Says/She Says How'd Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Zooey Deschanel, Kat Dennings, and more look at last night's show? Mike Bruno and Bronwyn Barnes each take a look, then compare notes... By Bronwyn Barnes and Mike Bruno Published on September 24, 2012 02:00PM EDT Close 01 of 26 Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Bronwyn says: I'm not crazy about the double thigh-high slits. (Is it just me, or is there a hint of camel toe?) But the refreshing color of Klum's halter-neck gown made her one of the night's standouts. B+ Mike says: (So we're kicking off with "camel toe," eh Bronwyn? Sweet.) Heidi is always hot, even when she's striking an Angelina looksie-leg pose. I'm with you on the double slit being a little off-putting, but girl's got gams, so why deprive us of one? B 02 of 26 Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Like the ho-hum beige hue of her gown, I'm neutral about the Mad Men star's look. C- Mike says: I feel for her. Christina Hendricks' figure is pure dynamite, but she may very well look best strutting around in Joan's '60s form-fitting office wear. She wants to look pretty and elegant when she rocks a carpet, but what's a girl with all that wonderful to do? I don't know if I've ever seen the ideal solution to this (rather alluring) problem. I will say this dress drops hints in some enjoyable places. But I agree with you on the color — same dress in blue works much better. B- 03 of 26 Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Bronwyn says: At last year's Emmys, Vergara was my hands-down favorite, which makes this look even more disappointing. The dress is a little too Charo ''cuchi-cuchi,'' and Vergara seems to have lost weight in all the wrong places. Where are those killer curves? C+ Mike says: Weird, I hadn't noticed a mellowing of curves until you said it just now. We're missing some hourglass, at least in this shot (again, didn't notice it during the carpet telecast... when when she was shaking her moneymaker for Seacrest). I actually liked the dress, though. The requisite Sofia cleavage was in place (she was literally busting out of it), and the deep cut in the back was really sexy. B+ 04 of 26 Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: Deschanel managed to pull off sexy and sweet in this airy gown. And I give her extra points for skipping the quirky nail art. UPDATE: I spoke too soon about the nail art. B+ Mike says: I'll give you sweet, but I'm not sold on the sexy. This thing looks like something she pulled out of a box in her mom's attic — what she kinda always looks like, I guess. Whatever. C 05 of 26 Kat Dennings in J. Mendel Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Christina Hendricks better watch her back! Or rather, her front. Dennings' J. Mendel gown was the perfect showcase for her ample cleavage. A Mike says: Fully agree. This was elegant and sexy — the girls were on display, but there were angles where you almost didn't notice. Almost. A 06 of 26 Julianne Hough in Georges Hobeika Couture Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Look, it's The Little Mermaid! C Mike says: No denying the girl has a body on her, but there's only about 8 inches of this dress that works it for her. (And what's up with that mashed hair?) C- 07 of 26 Lena Headey in Armani Privé Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: I see London, I see France...is this from the Armani for Fredrick's of Hollywood collection? D- Mike says: Yikes. It's like Elvira got a Miley cut and a breast reduction. D 08 of 26 Ashley Judd in Carolina Herrera Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Did Judd get confused and think she was attending the 1994 Emmy Awards? That hairstyle is what you call an updon't. D+ Mike says: Eh, I like Marge Simpson better as a blue-head. D 09 of 26 Lucy Liu in Versace Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Right gown, wrong event. Liu's ensemble was too high-fashion for the Emmys. C+ Mike says: See, I like how this Barbarella/robot look mixed things up out there. Maybe it is out of context for the Emmys...or maybe everyone else was out of context for Lucy Liu. B+ 10 of 26 Julie Bowen in Monique Lhuillier Michael Buckner/Getty Images Bronwyn says: From the color to the cut, everything about this bold column gown is modern and sophisticated. A- Mike says: It is a cool color, but there's no shape. I want to unwrap her. Is that the point? C+ 11 of 26 Kerry Washington in Vivienne Westwood Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: Washington let her dress do all the talking, keeping the accessories simple. I would have liked to see her wear a more dramatic lip color, but she's almost perfect as-is. A- Mike says: Nothing too fancy about this Studio 54-inspired number. But Kerry is a bad-ass and this does the trick. B 12 of 26 Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Bronwyn says: I don't love the heavy embroidery on this Lhuillier gown, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Goodwin. B- Mike says: Ah, ''heavy embroidery'' — that's what you call it. I keep swinging back and forth on this dress. It's memorable — but is it bold or just gaudy? No doubt Goodwin looks really pretty, and I dig those shoes. Plus there's the flesh toned under-thingy (you failed to mention what that is called, Bronwyn), which gives an extra whiff of sexy, so I'm gonna land on thumbs up. B 13 of 26 January Jones in Zac Posen Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: January, thank goodness you're back! The Emmys just weren't the same when you didn't show up last year, and though it's no Versace bird dress, this Zac Posen gown brought some much-needed edge to this year's red carpet. B+ Mike says: Yeah, I'm with you on the edginess of the dress. Well done there. But why did she decide to rock Don Draper's hair? B- 14 of 26 Connie Britton in Andrew Gn Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: This metallic gown is gorgeous, but I think Britton would have looked even better in Hayden Panettiere's gown. And vice versa. Did the Nashville stars accidentally switch garment bags? B Mike says: Love, love, love Connie Britton. And from the belt up she's got a good thing going here. We're not accentuating the right things below that, unfortunately. B- 15 of 26 Zosia Mamet in Bibhu Mohapatra Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Want to know what I think about this two-dresses-in-one fashion fail? The look on Mamet's face sums it up perfectly. D Mike says: What the...? Even her knees are weeping. D- 16 of 26 Hayden Panettiere in Marchesa Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images Bronwyn says: See Connie Britton. A- Mike says: I kinda wish we could get a better look at the tinfoil dress underneath this blue sash thing. It still works, though barely. B 17 of 26 Padma Lakshmi in Monique Lhuillier Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Lakshmi's gown fits her like a dream, but the color doesn't do much for me — other than making me crave a bowl of orange sherbet. C Mike says: The color doesn't complement the red carpet's hue that well, but I actually like how it works with her skin tone. And agree — that thing hugs her in all the right places. B+ 18 of 26 Julianne Moore in Dior Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: I love this gown! No I don't, I hate it! Clearly this is a case of either/or — together, the color and the full coverage are just too much. C- Mike says: I'm gonna come out and say it: I am not a fan of "full coverage." (Shocker, right?) This ain't Little House on the Prairie. C- 19 of 26 Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: This is not the place to comment on Poehler's split from Will Arnett, but this hot halter makes me think of that old saying, ''The best revenge is looking good.'' B+ Mike says: Yeah, I'm with you. This is as good as Amy Poehler has looked in...forever. Mee-yow. A- 20 of 26 Emilia Clarke in Chanel Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Bronwyn says: At her first-ever Emmys, Clarke gave the red carpet veterans a run for their money in this divine Chanel frock. Game on! A- Mike says: Clarke is incapable of looking bad. And this dress is...interesting, I'll say that. I like that blue stuff on the front, very pretty. And the skirt on the bottom creates a fun game of peek-a-boo (though also reminds me a bit of Cousin Itt.) B 21 of 26 Morena Baccarin Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: I want to walk up to Baccarin, pull that front slit together and safety pin it shut. She looks like she suffered a wardrobe malfunction as she slid out of her limo. C- Mike says: Bronwyn, keep your hands and pins away from this dress! Works for me, Morena. Keep on. B+ 22 of 26 Edie Falco Jason Merritt/WireImage Bronwyn says: Just WOW. A Mike says: Yeah, total package. The hair, the earrings, the dress, the toes. I'm not sure why she shoved herself through a wedding band, but girl looks really good. A 23 of 26 Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Love the gown, not so much the matching hair color. B- Mike says: Agreed. We know you're still a wild child, Kelly, even now that you're all couture. Stating it so bluntly with the matching hair...silly. B- 24 of 26 Nicole Kidman in Antonio Berardi Michael Buckner/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Thank you for bringing a little Oscars glamour to the Emmys, Nicole, you red carpet warrior princess. A- Mike says: Long and white with turquoise sparklies. Yeah, okay, this is good. I do, however, have to deduct a few points for the off-putting reverse phallus cut-out in the midsection. B 25 of 26 Maria Menounos Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images Bronwyn says: Did Menounos borrow this denim concoction from Britney Spears? It just doesn't work without the matching Timberlake. D Mike says: Hmmm. It's forgettable, sure, but the color is nice, and it puts her toned appendages on display nicely. B 26 of 26 Christine Baranski Jeff Vespa/WireImage Bronwyn says: She's got legs and she knows how to use them! Perhaps this metallic mini is a little too cocktail party casual for such a formal affair, but if I look good when I'm 60 years old, I'll walk around pants-less all the time. B- Mike says: Those are nice legs at any age. No doubt. But the dress...looks like something in the knick-knack bargain bin at Home Goods. C-
