Movies Ranking the Avengers by how much they've avenged, ahead of Endgame With Endgame upon us, it's time to tally up the avenging. By Derek Lawrence Derek Lawrence I currently write about Fast & Furious, The Office, and Will Smith. One day, I will write Hitch 2. EW's editorial guidelines Published on April 24, 2019 09:30AM EDT Close Avengers gonna Avenge Marvel Studios The Endgame is upon us, and with the conclusion of Infinity War, our remaining Avengers will have a lot of, well, avenging to do. But who has done the most avenging to date? Read on for our very scientific rankings. 23. Rocket ©Marvel Studios 2018 With not much avenging to his name as of now, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) will have plenty to avenge in Endgame considering he's the last Guardian standing. 22. Nebula ©Marvel Studios 2018 She's tried and failed to go after both Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) and Thanos (Josh Brolin), but Nebula (Karen Gillan) will have the chance to avenge her sister's death in Endgame. 21. Sam Wilson/Falcon Everett Collection I'm still waiting for him to avenge being punked by Ant-Man (Paul Rudd). 20. Peter Parker/Spider-Man Chuck Zlotnick The kid didn't even get the chance to avenge poor Uncle Ben this time around! As of now, he's technically only avenged an awkward ride to the homecoming dance. 19. Gamora Zoe Saldaña as Gamora in 'Avengers: Infinity War.'. Chuck Zlotnick/©Marvel Studios 2018 She's helped the Guardians out, but her big need for retribution is directed at adopted daddy Thanos, who, last I checked, just killed her. 18. James Rhodes/War Machine Zade Rosenthal/Marvel Studios War Machine (Don Cheadle) doesn't get much personal avenging to do. The closest thing we've gotten is Terrence Howard getting the No. 1 show on TV after being replaced by Cheadle in Iron Man 2. 17. Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier Everett Collection He's really just lucky that others on this list haven't avenged against him. (Civil War was a big ol' misunderstanding, okay?) 16. Mantis Marvel I feel like Mantis (Pom Klementieff) still owes Drax (Dave Bautista) some payback for making fun of her, but she did help take down her master, Ego (Kurt Russell). 15. Okoye Chuck Zlotnick/© Marvel Studios 2018 In a short span, Okoye (Danai Gurira) has put together a solid avenging résumé, between protecting Wakanda and taking down her king's usurper. 14. Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel Chuck Zlotnick/Marvel Studios Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has only had one chance at avenging, and ask Jude Law's Yon-Rogg how that worked out. 13. Clint Barton/Hawkeye Jeremy Renner. Jay Maidment/Marvel Studios Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) kind of got back at Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for that whole mind control thing, but I guarantee that he never got back any compensation for all the extra farm expenses that he accrued when the team came for a visit. 12. Scott Lang/Ant-Man ©Marvel Studios 2018 If you kidnap his daughter, you will die. That is just a fact. 11. Bruce Banner/Hulk ©Marvel Studios 2018 Yes, he saved Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) from Ultron (James Spader) and got to repeatedly smash Loki, but how about he avenge being turned into the Hulk? 10. Peter Quill/Star-Lord Chuck Zlotnick/©Marvel Studios 2017 It's always nice when you can get even with your dad for abandoning you and then trying to kill you and destroy the universe. Well, it would have also been nice if your enemy didn't kill your crush and if this discovery didn't lead you to inadvertently helping him get free. 9. Dr. Stephen Strange Marvel Studios Being able to reverse time and bring your friend Wong (Benedict Wong) back from the dead is pretty clutch. My one criticism here is that poor Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt) is still waiting to be avenged! 8. Drax the Destroyer ©Marvel Studios 2018 Drax has half-avenged the death of his family, as Thanos is still out there to be killed, which means Drax has some possible upside in the future rankings! 7. Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Francois Duhamel/© Marvel Studios She really should have had some more personal avenging opportunities, but this is a numbers game, and being an OG helps her rise toward the top. 6. Vision Vision with the Mind Stone. ©Marvel Studios 2016 Technically created as a result of Ultron's actions, Vision (Paul Bettany) ends up taking out the final Ultron drone in that showdown. And after Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) telekinetically pushed him hundreds of feet underground, Vision gets the ultimate payback: making her fall in love with him! 5. Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch ©Marvel Studios 2018 Her brother died as a result of the confrontation with Ultron. Ultron was subsequently destroyed. Looks like a perfect record to me. 4. Tony Stark/Iron Man Everett Collection When you're the original Avenger, then you better be near the top of the avenging rankings. And Tony's (Robert Downey Jr.) done well in the retribution department, with the only black mark on his record being Bucky (Sebastian Stan) still being out there despite having killed Tony's parents. 3. Steve Rogers/Captain America Chris Evans as Captain America. Zade Rosenthal/Marvel Studios It doesn't hurt when your résumé goes all the way back to World War II. And while Bucky hasn't taken care of his business himself, like a good friend, Steve (Chris Evans) did some avenging for him. 2. T'Challa/Black Panther Chadwick Boseman in 'Black Panther'. Marvel Studios He doesn't have the longevity of the others, but T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) doesn't mess around. Whether it was Zemo (Daniel Brühl) killing his father or Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) almost killing him, Black Panther comes for — and gets — you. 1. Thor Jasin Boland/Marvel Studios Dead mom? Check. Traitorous brother? Check. Destroyed home planet? Check. Lost eye? Check. You name it, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has avenged it.
