TV Maria Bamford's Lady Dynamite returning for season 2 this November By Ariana Bacle Published on September 7, 2017 03:43PM EDT Get ready for an explosive fall: Lady Dynamite is officially returning for season 2 on Nov. 10, Netflix announced Thursday. Maria Bamford stars as a version of herself in the show, which was co-created by Arrested Development‘s Mitch Hurwitz and South Park‘s Pam Brady. The wonderfully weird first season premiered in May 2016 and featured the fictional Maria interacting with a lineup of kooky characters played by guest stars like Patton Oswalt and Mira Sorvino. Former EW critic Melissa Maerz called the show “a joy to watch” in her review of that first season, which she gave an A-. “Each episode loosely follows some semblance of a plot — one finds Maria dating a bisexual drug addict, another finds her acting in a racist sitcom,” she wrote, “but the story is mostly an excuse to string together very funny, absurdist moments.” Judging by a video teaser announcing the season 2 premiere date, that’s not changing: Wearing a bridal veil, Maria sits in a futuristic conference room as her agent (Ana Gasteyer) forces her to drop her “baby voice.” According to a press release, these new episodes will focus on Maria’s relationship with love. “Maria will use all the wrong lessons learned in childhood as she navigates her new relationship status with family, friends, and pugs,” it reads. “She also lands a new gig at a streaming network that may or may not be owned by Elon Musk.” Good for her?
