Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton exchange texts after Hugh Hefner's death

Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton reunited early Thursday through the power of text message to pay tribute to Hugh Hefner.

“Paris & I are reminiscing about the Playboy parties at the mansion & how much we love Hef. She’s [texting] me the perfect Hef emojis,” Kardashian wrote on Twitter following Hefner’s death at age 91.

Kardashian, who appeared on the Playboy cover in 2007, also wrote, “RIP to the legendary Hugh Hefner! I’m so honored to have been a part of the Playboy team! You will be greatly missed! Love you Hef! Xoxo”

Hilton retweeted Kardashian’s post and also added her own remembrance of Hefner, writing, “So sad to hear the news about Hugh Hefner. He was a #Legend, innovator & one of a kind. We had so many fun & incredible memories together. I will miss him dearly. Rest In Peace my friend.”

Kardashian and Hilton were friends for years (Kardashian even appeared on Hilton’s reality show The Simple Life) but seemingly drifted apart in the last decade. Three years ago, in August 2014, Kardashian posted a photo with Hilton, noting it was “good to see you and catch up.”

Hefner died on Wednesday. “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights, and sexual freedom,” Hefner’s son Cooper, chief creative officer of Playboy Enterprises, said in a statement. “He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history. He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie, and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises.”
