EW's editorial guidelines Published on October 4, 2023 04:59PM EDT Meghan McCain's signature spice could've been replaced with some of Cameran Eubanks' southern-fried sass on The View, executive producer Brian Teta has revealed. During a discussion with Republican cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin on Monday's episode of the Behind the Table podcast, Teta said that the former Bravo network star was a potential candidate to take over McCain's spot on the talk show, before Griffin eventually stepped in. "At one point, a Southern Charm cast member was interested in auditioning for your job, when you were auditioning for the job. It was very exciting. It did not pan out," Teta told Griffin, who confirmed that she'd heard the news as well — though neither named the subject outright. Cameran Eubanks and Alyssa Farah Griffin. Griffin asked of the cast member, who hailed from the reality series that follows a group of wealthy southerners, though Teta indicated that it didn't get to that point. EW has since confirmed through a source that the pair's chat centered on Eubanks. A 2021 press release listed the Southern Charm personality as one of the guest cohosts slated to sit at the Hot Topics table throughout season 25, but it ultimately never happened. "I was like, that's very stiff competition," Griffin continued, adding that there was another Bravo-lebrity's name in the mix. "One of our beloved producers blurted out to me that she wanted me to get the job, or Paige DeSorbo, who never even auditioned, but she's on Summer House. I was like, 'What? You're team Paige over Alyssa?' But, she'd be fun on a talk show." Representatives for The View, Southern Charm, and Eubanks did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment. Following McCain's departure from The View in 2021, several stars were rumored to be in the running for the vacant slot, with the show welcoming a revolving door of guest cohosts in McCain's absence, including Lindsey Granger, Tara Setmayer, and Real Housewives of New York City alum Eboni K. Williams. The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC. Listen to Teta and Griffin discuss the Southern Charm star at around the 11:30 mark in the podcast above.
