The View audience groans after Whoopi Goldberg tells them 'not all Republicans are the same'

"Well, I'm just reminding everybody," Goldberg said after the crowd's response.

The audience at The View hilariously, briefly, and ever so gently balked at Whoopi Goldberg's earnest attempt to ease some political division on the talk show.

As a live interview with news personality Rachel Maddow came to a close on Wednesday's episode, the panel dissected America's fractured political scene that, in recent months, has seen Congress thrown into turmoil over Speaker Kevin McCarthy's ousting and the rise of the indicted Donald Trump as the likely Republican nominee in the 2024 presidential election.

"While the Republican party is firing their own Speaker and shutting down Congress, Joe Biden is, like, lowering prescription drug prices," Maddow said. "The two parties have two very different projects right now, and I want Republicans to want politics. They don't seem to be pursuing politics right now. They are pursuing a different form of government for this country, and that is a big deal."

Responding to Maddow's point, the EGOT-winning actress and newly minted Vatican icon turned to the audience with a message of peace.

"And they're not all the same, either. Not all Republicans are the same," the 67-year-old star said with her pointer finger in the air, prompting a small portion of the studio audience to groan.

She then replied, "Well, I'm just reminding everybody."

The cohosts and Maddow laughed the moment off while Goldberg, also chuckling, sent the show to a commercial break.

Panelists on The View have spent recent weeks heavily criticizing Republican maneuvers, including labeling McCarthy a "loser" after he was removed from his post.

"If you hadn't made all those concessions at the beginning of the year, possibly you would still be the Speaker. You gave up everything, you said yes to everything, you gave those eight people all the power they needed to put your behind out of there," Goldberg said on the Oct. 4 episode, referencing the eight Republicans who sided with Democrats in voting out McCarthy. "You did this. The Democrats didn't do this to you. It's not our job to keep you in. You did this to yourself. Stop blaming the Democrats."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
