TAK and TETRA: Portalify Ltd is one of the foremost critical communications applications software innovators. Hannu Aronsson and his team of developers now move the goal posts when it comes to leveraging the rich TETRA applications capabilities to enrich the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) ecosystem. TAK provides a powerful Common Operating Picture capability built upon non-proprietary open-sourced software actively supported by the US Department of Defense. With TAK, dispersed team members enjoy handheld access to geospatially relevant dynamic information about team members and dots on the map. It is an extensible tool that exposes the information linked to each dot, such as sensors, cameras, and drones. And it leads to a significant boost in situational awareness information gathered in a single user interface. The question now is how other Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) suppliers in the APCO P25 or DMR domains will embrace this unique proprietary, open-source Common Operating Picture capability.
