In August, Finnair carried 1,062,400 passengers, which is 9.5% more than in August 2023. The Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) in Asian traffic were up by 11.2% year-on-year due to increased capacity to Japan, including added frequencies to Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. In North Atlantic traffic, ASKs increased by 2.6% due to added frequencies to Dallas. In European traffic, the ASKs were up by 11.8% as the majority of the increase in narrow-body capacity was allocated to Europe. Welcome to follow the #lifeatfinnair series in which we introduce one of our talented employees each week. This time, it's our design team's and Daniela's turn! ✈️: Who are you and what do you do at Finnair? "Hello! My name is Daniela Oria and I work as Principal Designer in the Finnair Design Team." ✈️: How long have you worked here and what made you apply? "I joined Finnair in 2019, so that's five years as a Finnair employee. However, before that, I worked for a couple of years as an external consultant. When working as a consultant, I fell in love with the aviation industry, the team I was part of at Finnair and the topics I was working on, and I was hoping the whole time that this 'assignment' would not end. So when the right opportunity came, transitioning from an external to an internal position felt like the natural next step for me." ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? "Aviation is a very complex and regulated industry, and as a designer, hiding that complexity from our customers is a constant challenge. I really like problem-solving, so this kind of setup ensures that the topics I get to work on are never boring. Also, the team at Finnair is very special. For one, the environment is extremely multicultural (in the Design Team alone, we have 9 different nationalities!). Secondly, I get to work with people who come from very different walks of life and are experts in a variety of areas. Some of them know Finnair and aviation inside out, while others bring completely new perspectives due to their experiences elsewhere. It’s a very stimulating environment, and I develop myself and learn a lot all the time." ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination? "With my family, we regularly travel to Italy because it’s my home country, but besides that I’d say California and London. California for its amazing scenery and London because it has so much to offer and always has a special vibe." ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? "I’m into baking and praline making, and whenever there’s a chance I try to experiment and learn new skills and techniques. If I wasn’t a designer, I wish I was a full-time pastry chef!" ✈️: What tip would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? "It’s a fascinating industry that offers lots of opportunities for learning and developing, even outside of your core area of expertise. If you are considering it, definitely go for it. It will surprise you in many ways."

Welcome to join the #lifeatfinnair series where we celebrate the heart of our airline: our people. This week, we're thrilled to introduce our Secretary to President and CEO Ulla Tallgren and her inspiring Finnair story. ✈️: Who are you and what do you do at Finnair? "I’m Ulla “Ultsi” Tallgren. I’m happy to assist our CEO, SVP Legal and Board of Directors." ✈️: How long have you worked here and what made you apply? "I have been working in Finnair Group for all my life. My career started as a summer employee in Finnmatkat in 1986 and continued as a Production Assistant from 1987 until 1993. After that, I worked for one year at Finnair Travel Services as an Operation Coordinator. In 1994, I had the pleasure of joining Finnair Kitchen (then called Finnair Catering). After my nearly 16-year catering career, I moved to the CEO’s office, where I have now had a great time for nearly 14 years." ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? "I like that the work is really versatile and that every day is very different. I also truly value my coworkers and Finnair team members — whenever we face difficult times and go through crises together, our team spirit seems to grow even stronger. Additionally, Finnair is a loyal employer, and I have always received my salary on time, which might not always be self-evident in different organisations." ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination? "My favourite destination is Chania, Crete. It’s the city of my heart & soul, a place where life is always good." ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? "My mother made her work career at a family-owned travel agency. I used to spend a lot of time at my mum’s work, and when I was around 6 years old, I decided that when I’m adult, I will also want to work in the travel business." ✈️: What tip would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? "When working in aviation, you must be a flexible person equipped with lots of resilience. Situations are surprising, and you never know what will happen next."
