For Pride Month 2024, we teamed up with two visual artists from the LGBTQIA+ community for joyful art installations in our NYC and Helsinki stores. 🌈 Meet the artists! Zander Schlacter an artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NYC working primarily within the medium of textiles. He designed the installation of our NYC store window. “For this project and in my practice more generally, I am influenced by Marimekko’s aesthetic and brand history,” Zander explains. “I sought to capture the boldness of spirit and the handmade, human touch that can be felt in so much Marimekko design.” Emma Thomas is a Finnish-American visual artist living in Helsinki.  For her piece at the Marimekko Aleksinkulma store window in Helsinki, Emma aimed to spread joy with a lighthearted creation while also provoking thought and acknowledging the history of Pride.
