Last week, leaders from all 32 #NATO Allies gathered in Washington, DC, for the 2024 NATO Summit. The agenda included:
🇺🇦Affirming unwavering support for Ukraine
🛡️Strengthening NATO's deterrence and defense posture
🏭Collaborating with industry to increase production and expand the industrial base
🤝Enhancing the Alliance's partnerships
✅Ensuring Allies meet their commitments to invest in their own defense and collective defense.
During the Summit, the United States, Finland, and Canada announced the ICE Pact, a new trilateral partnership focused on building Arctic and polar icebreakers and enhancing related capabilities.
🌍Additionally, the United States and partners, including Finland, launched Women LEAD, a $850 million partnership to advance women's leadership globally.
🤝The United States also invited Finland, Sweden, Germany, and the UK to Congress to meet with Democratic and Republican senators to discuss support for Ukraine and strengthening defense cooperation.
In celebration of NATO's 75th anniversary, the U.S. Department of State organized an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) exchange for 14 youth leaders from NATO countries to participate in the 2024 #NATOSummit. Not only did a Finnish participant, Peppi Heinikainen, attend the Summit, she also toured New York, Pensacola, and Washington, DC, to engage with U.S. communities and discuss global security.
