“I was Feiya's supervisor for over 4 years. In the Business Manager position Feiya Long’s duties involved heading the business development of the international Ohjopal prepaid service, covering the responsibilities of sales and marketing (including development of partnerships), product and service development, communication and guidance of other functions of Elisa involved in the Ohjopal business. While working in this role in my team Feiya showed a commendable level of determination and diligence in her working methods and, with clear objectives, is capable of working autonomously and independently with good results. In the Business Manager position Feiya was in a short time span, in practice, single-handedly able to build a distribution & retailer network overseas through partnerships and collaboration, representing a good reference for her capabilities. In her work, Feiya was well able to live up the required and expected generalist skills and flexibility as described in the duties. The termination of the service Feiya was heading unfortunately also led to the end of our co-operation, and I hope to see Feiya taking up new challenges very soon.”
About
Business manager, tech startup founder, and mother of a boy and a girl, Feiya is committed to helping children seize the initiative in becoming global digital citizens. After over 10 years of working at Fortune 500 companies, listed companies and in the public sector, she is enjoying her new role as a female tech founder applying technology ethically to make the world a better place for our next generation. She is a visionary with her head in the clouds and feet on the ground, who is working hard on making a positive social impact to the world.
Starting as a trainee in the biggest telecom corporation in Finland, she built up a startup-like internal operation and was promoted to become the company’s first non-Finnish-speaking business manager, responsible for a million-euro international consumer subscriptions business. While working on her degrees, she has also held full-time positions in marketing and sales management at Daimler’s China headquarters, and an internship in a well-known investment company in Hong Kong.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in international economics from the top university in Beijing – including a third-year exchange program in Finland and a Master’s degree in Marketing from Aalto University. She has also completed a year-long program in Design Innovation led by Stanford University.
Feiya enjoys traveling (when there aren’t worldwide plagues happening) and has visited over 40 countries. She does volunteer work to support other mothers in business, female founders and immigrant families. She also enjoys music and singing, and has performed in the national theaters of China and Finland. She celebrates her Chinese heritage, and has been leading the first Chinese-language children’s choir in Finland. Her children have always been part of her mission and they believe that she has a superpower that will change the world!

What role does customer feedback play in startup market research?
Adding a new angle here: as a startup founder, I know that for many early-stage startups, customer acquisition is challenging, which means you may not have real customers to collect feedback from initially. However, the process of collecting feedback can actually help you acquire customers and validate whether they are genuinely interested in your product. Feedback is a double-edged sword—it can help you or hurt you as an early-stage startup. Using it smartly, however, can have a significant positive impact on your growth and product development. But first, find customers!

What role does customer feedback play in startup market research?
As a founder and CEO of a startup, I consider customer feedback as a timer. Once you start collecting feedback, the clock starts ticking, and you need to deliver because your customers are waiting for their input to be acted upon. It's not just the feedback itself that holds value; collecting and responding to it promptly and regularly should be integrated into the product roadmap. This serves as a crucial reminder that we need to move fast and stay responsive. Make it even more positive, customers are waiting for us! Go go go!

Here's how you can effectively manage change and lead your organization through strategic transformations.
As a founder and CEO of a startup, I wouldn't recommend this step as the first move. It may end up depressing you about changes rather than motivating you. The startup world is constantly evolving, and so is the reality around it. However, the one thing that should remain constant in the predictable short term is the vision. Let the vision lift you up, and don't let the reality beat you down. Please jump to the next step!
