After opening the 2024 calendar year with Oregon's 45-6 win over Liberty on New Year's Day, 2024 will conclude with the first-ever College Football Playoff Quarterfinal on December 31. With the expansion of the College Football Playoff to 12 teams this upcoming season, a new era of college football begins at the 54th Annual Vrbo Fiesta Bowl featuring two of the country's top 12 teams. Just days earlier on December 26, the 35th Annual Guaranteed Rate Bowl, featuring Bowl Season's only Big Ten vs. Big 12 matchup, will take center stage in downtown Phoenix, where a Major League Baseball park is transformed into a college football field.
