Starting with the 14-inch models, the discounts begin with the entry-level M3 model with 512GB of storage, which is available for $1,399.99 with an on-page coupon at Amazon for total savings of $199 off the regular price. The 1TB model is similarly available for $199 off with an on-page coupon, bringing the price down to $1,599.99.

Moving to higher-end 14-inch models with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, you'll find $300 discounts on several configurations:

  • 11-Core M3 Pro, 512GB - $1,699.00, down from $1,999.00 at Best Buy
  • 12-Core M3 Pro, 1TB - $2,099.00, down from $2,399.00 at Amazon and Best Buy
  • 14-Core M3 Max, 1TB - $2,899.00, down from $3,199.00 at Amazon and Best Buy

For the larger 16-inch models, both Amazon and Best Buy have record-low prices with discounts ranging from $300 to $500 across the various configurations:

  • 12-Core M3 Pro, 512GB, 18GB Memory - $2,199.00, down from $2,499.00 at Amazon and Best Buy
  • 12-Core M3 Pro, 512GB, 36GB Memory - $2,399.00, down from $2,899.00 at Amazon and Best Buy
  • 14-Core M3 Max, 1TB, 36GB Memory - $2,999.00, down from $3,499.00 at Amazon and Best Buy
  • 16-Core M3 Max, 1TB, 48GB Memory - $3,499.00, down from $3,999.00 at Amazon and Best Buy

We all know M4 iterations are just around the corner, but these are more than enough computer for most people for years. I still feel no pull to upgrade my M1Pro based on performance.

These offers always go away when you pick the specs you need.

For example, on the 14" with 1TB above, if you pick 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB the discount goes away.
Yeah because on the models with the regular M3 chip 16GB isn't a default available config, it's a build to order option. The sales are generally for the default available configs.

I’m waiting for the thinner MacBook Pro re-design maybe M4 or M5.
If Apple continues a roughly annual upgrade cadence and isn’t rumored to put tandem OLED panels into the MBPs until 2026 at the latest then we’d be looking at M6-ish generation for a chassis redesign (maybe M5). I’m holding out for that too. My M1 Pro 14” MBP is still a beast but I do wish it were a touch more svelte.

How are they able to lower the price by $500 if the device costs so much due to R&D costing so much? At least that's what people who have never owned a business or understand how a business works said.

Company has more cash on hand than the entire planet yet somehow people think Apple is making only $100 profit per device they sell.

Some companies will sell at a loss at times too, in the hope you then use part of the savings to buy other things such as accessories.

But yeah. It’s amazing what deals companies will have with suppliers and what the machine actually costs compared to the RRP set by Apple.

We understand this part. The problem is that this is the case. It shouldn’t be. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice power and longevity to get a decent deal when the base models are also on sale.

I'm not sure how much profit Apple and Amazon/Best Buy makes on these sales, but even if Apple only makes $100 profit, I'd expect that Amazon/Best Buy must make some profit and that the deals are mostly (entirely?) eating into their profits to move inventory.

Apple makes roughly 400 dollars of profit on Macbooks

To be serious for a bit that $1,699 offer on Best Buy is solid.

Good deal, this is the one I'd get personally. The main downside is the 512 GB SSD, I've had issues with 512 in the past (although it took years to run out of space).
Yeah that's a pretty sweet deal. I think the 512GB SSD is fine for most people considering the SD card slot is back.

Granted nowhere near as fast as the internal storage if you decide to expand that way, but fast enough for most uses. Even consumer grade SD cards are surprisingly durable these days.

Yes, 8GB RAM in 2024 IS unbelievable! 😅
Looks like nobody answered you before, but the answer is yes on the AI question.

I think the sales are solid all around despite my complaints about the 8GB RAM. The only one I wouldn't even consider is the 8GB RAM/1TB option at $1,599 considering what $100 more gives you with a better CPU and much more RAM...
