🔥 Thrilled to share that Breega has led the €8.5M seed round for #deeptech Entalpic, on a mission to build an AI powerhouse for materials discovery. Targeting industrial processes with large CO2 emissions, Entalpic is developing solutions for energy storage, fertilizer production, and pollution control - with the aim to drive a real change in #decarbonization and contribute to the emergence of greener and cheaper alternatives. Starting with Electrocatalysis. Co-founded by Mathieu Galtier (CEO), Victor Schmidt (CTO) and Alexandre Duval (CSO), they believe generative AI will drive a new wave of discoveries in materials science and chemistry. So they built for they call an “ML for science” company. « Given that chemical processes have remained unchanged for decades, we see a massive potential to drive innovation and accelerate the decarbonization of this sector, propelling it into a new era of sustainability. » says Maximilien Bacot. 🚀 This new funding will allow Entalpic to build a world-class team of ML engineers and materials scientists, run physical experiments to generate rich datasets and train large ML models to generate relevant catalyst candidates. Very proud to be backing the talented team at Entalpic on this journey, alongside co-investors Jacky Abitbol from Cathay Innovation and Gabriella G. from Felicis. 🚀 REPOST from: Seb Johnson 📊 Cuvva: The Next UK Insurtech Unicorn? £21M OF REVENUE AND PROFITABLE Cuvva, which was founded in 2016 by Freddy Macnamara and James Billingham, is the UK's leading short-term car insurance app. It was the first Insurtech to introduce hourly car insurance policies in the UK and the first to sell policies through an app. It has just released its FY2023 results which are AMAZING: 🚀 £21.2m of annual revenue (+63% YoY) 🚀 £2.1m Net Profit (vs £7m losses in 2022) 🚀 92% Gross Margin In 2021 Cuvva recorded £8.8m of revenue. Two years later this was £21.2m. In the same time frame Admin Expenses shrunk. As a result, Cuvva has swung from net losses of over £9m in 2021 to £2m of profit in 2023. This is efficient growth at its finest. Cuvva last raised money in a crowdfunding round in 2022 at a £109m Valuation. Their latest results make this look like a relatively low valuation, but is becoming a unicorn likely? CEO Freddy Macnamara certainly sees no reason to raise more VC cash. When asked if Cuvva would ever raise VC money again he said: “I hope not. It’s tremendously empowering seeing the bank balance go up every single month, rather than down.” Lots of Insurtechs have struggled to adjust to a high interest rate world where profitability is key, but Cuvva has shown what’s possible. Great stuff.

It started with a dream, It took passion, dedication, and resilience. It took a village. At the end of it, only one question remains: What’s next? THE AFTERMATH. Our final episode tells the incredible stories of tennis champ Mario Ancic and Breega’s founder François Paulus. 🎾 From Wimbledon to Wall Street, Mario was one of the youngest players in the ATP Top 10. By 22, he had reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, won an Olympic bronze medal with Ivan Ljubičić in 2004, and won the Davis Cup the year after. Then in 2011, career ending health issues forced him to stop. 👉 His next chapter: graduated from Law School at Columbia University, worked in investment banking on Wall Street before becoming a private equity investor at One Equity Partners. 🔥 From serial entrepreneur to Venture Capitalist, François Paulus opened up like never before about his exit story back in 2007, when he decided to leave Neuf Cegetel only months before it was acquired by SFR in an 8 billion Euro deal. 👉 His next chapter: angel investing, advising and mentoring entrepreneurs—until one day, he received a call from Maximilien Bacot and Ben Marrel “Are you free for lunch?” --- One chose when it would end, one did not.  One is a serial entrepreneur, one is a world athlete. Both are now dedicated to backing technology entrepreneurs across the globe. 🌍 #OneMindsetDifferentArenas : we've come full circle.  #EntrepreneursareOlympiansToo Now passing on the torch for the 2024 Paris Olympics kicking off tomorrow 🔥

« You don’t know what you don’t know. » Blind spots. ⚖️ In this enlightening conversation with Katherine Ready and Patrick Asdaghi, we explored a fundamental difference between athletes and entrepreneurs. Both evolve in a high-pressure, high performance environments. Athletes, however, benefit from a comprehensive Olympic infrastructure. 🏃♂️ For years, Katherine led a team of 15 professionals—spanning from psychologists, therapists, coaches, to physiotherapists—all dedicated to optimizing athletes for success. This team pushed athletes beyond their limits, enhancing their resilience to stress and pressure, and instilling the confidence to perform at their best on game day. Katherine calls it « the team behind the team. » 👉 Entrepreneurs, on the other hand, don’t have this built-in support. They must create it themselves. As Patrick highlights, significant progress has been made in this area and being an entrepreneur today looks nothing like it was 10 years ago, as we increasingly see support-infrastructures being built. This episode is a call to entrepreneurs to be more deliberate in establishing a rock-solid support system. 🤜🤛 #OneMindsetDifferentArenas #EntrepreneursAreOlympiansToo Video powered by Track Record, led by Katherine Ready & David Carry. Born from elite sport, Track Record unlocks the power of organisations through executive coaching for leaders and their teams.
