In 2023, their total GHG emissions increased 13% year-over-year, mainly due to higher energy consumption in data centers and supply chain emissions. What does the 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗼 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 name stand for? You might have initially thought of the cosmos and the stars or even the Einstein’s equation for gravity when you first heard it. However, our name has a different significance. When co-founders Michel Morvan and Hugues de Bantel chose the company’s name, the objective was to convey what sets Cosmo Tech apart as a company, by highlighting our distinctive know-how and its vast potential of applications. Thus, Cosmo Tech stands for 𝗖𝗢mplex 𝗦ystem 𝗠𝗢deling 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵nology. 🌎Human, language, mathematics, logic. These are all ways to formalize the world. The concept of modeling phenomena using mathematical formulas dates back to the 1600s. In our modern era, however, there is a new and yet more powerful tool: computation. 🧑💻Our journey began with the concept that complex systems, much like matter, can be computationally represented through their four key components: entities, hierarchies, interactions, and dynamics. The goal was to formalize what we know about a complex system - such as a complex industrial system - considering all its assets, processes, constraints and interactions at various time scales. 🤔You might say: “It’s all very elegant, but deeply abstract”. Here is a more humanized representation: the way the complex system behaves over time, with its causal rules, and all the interactions of its present and future components and constraints are defined through human expertise. This expertise is based on the understanding of the situation or problem and the successive application and testing of computational rules. 🪐Just as we explore the universe by launching spacecraft and expanding our concepts and paradigms, we can now model the dynamic behavior of any complex system - whether it’s physical, biological, social, economical, artificial or hybrid.
