⚠️ ALERT: Civic freedoms decline in the UK In recent months, there has been an alarming wave of restrictions on civic freedoms. The police have used excessive force to repress activists expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, including young students. Harsh prosecution of climate activists after anti-protest legislation broadens the meaning of “serious disruption”. The Rwanda Asylum Bill violated human rights and gave ministers the power to ignore the interim measures of the European Court of Human Rights. New legislative measures repress the right to protest and restricts public bodies from supporting boycotts of human rights abusers. In addition, anti-trans discrimination is on the rise as politicians seek to limit gender affirming care to children and young people.
