For an open and enabling civic space in Europe
À propos
The European Civic Forum (ECF) is a transnational network that brings together over 100 associations across 29 European countries: a great variety of civic organisations ranging from big federations of associations deeply rooted in local constituencies, national platforms of NGOs uniting hundreds of thousands of NGOs across different sectors, human rights advocacy and campaigning organisations, but also smaller groups working at community level or engaging with the public on local issues. Since its creation in 2005, the European Civic Forum has been working to: 1. Promote an enabling environment for civic actors to engage in public sphere and community life around the values of Equality, Solidarity, Inclusiveness and Democracy. 2. Support the structuring of European civil society through alliance building, sharing of experience and joint campaigning for effective access to rights for all. 3. Foster institutional recognition of civil society organisations via the setting up of European Civil Dialogue (art. 11 of TUE) and the adoption of a European Statute for European Associations

Civic freedoms are in danger in the UK! From the repression of Palestine solidarity demonstrators to the prosecution of environmental activists to the attacks on trans and gender identity rights! ⚠️ ALERT: Civic freedoms decline in the UK In recent months, there has been an alarming wave of restrictions on civic freedoms. The police have used excessive force to repress activists expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, including young students. Harsh prosecution of climate activists after anti-protest legislation broadens the meaning of “serious disruption”. The Rwanda Asylum Bill violated human rights and gave ministers the power to ignore the interim measures of the European Court of Human Rights. New legislative measures repress the right to protest and restricts public bodies from supporting boycotts of human rights abusers. In addition, anti-trans discrimination is on the rise as politicians seek to limit gender affirming care to children and young people. After four fruitful years, it’s time to say farewell to the EnTrust project! 👉 https://bit.ly/45UembT During this time, Civil Society Europe (CSE) along with seven international partners have delved deep into the dynamics of trust and distrust in EU governance, and have yielded novel insights and practical measures to foster a more sustainable and democratic Europe. In particular, CSE has explored the intricate (trust) relationships between pan-European civil society organizations (CSOs) and EU institutions, coming up with resources designed to support CSOs, policymakers, and stakeholders in their efforts to create a more trustworthy civil dialogue at the EU and national levels. 🔎 Revisit our most relevant outputs, findings and recommendations 👉 https://bit.ly/45UembT Learn more about the project here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dGGB4MQd Thank you to all our partners, participants, and supporters who have contributed to the success of the EnTrust project!
