Illoco is an NGO that promotes the start of income-generating activities in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It works with communities living far from urban centers, by combining support in the form of consulting (analysis of local needs, training of entrepreneurs, strategy development, mobilization of stakeholders, etc.) and financing (donations, investments). Illoco supported nearly 50 entrepreneurs in its first year, with the creation of businesses in fields as varied as the manufacture of briquettes, the transport of goods in electric canoes and the distribution of solar lights. Management of Illoco was entrusted to Green Bio Energy, based in Kampala.
