OECD Public Governance

The OECD Information Integrity Hub and OECD countries delegates had the opportunity to visit technology companies in Silicon Valley (California) to exchange on how to facilitate access to evidence-based data and build societal preparedness against #disinformation in today's rapidly evolving information space. We covered important topics such as electoral integrity and digital authenticity of AI-generated content.   The team/OECD Secretariat met with representatives from Adobe, Anthropic, Cloudflare, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Snap, as well as thought leaders in this space such as the Center for Humane Technology.   In our discussions, we highlighted three key pillars to support information integrity: - Enhance transparency and accountability of info sources 🔍 - Build collective defenses against disinformation 👩🏫 - Modernise governance and public institutions 🏛️   These pillars are based on the findings of the OECD report “Facts not fakes” published in March, which offers an in-depth analysis on how to strengthen information integrity from a public governance perspective. #OutNow 📢 OECD Contributions to the 2030 Agenda and Beyond: Shaping a Sustainable Future for All Launched at #HLPF2024, this new OECD report gathers the best of the OECD’s knowledge, data, tools and country practices to inform and support the UN and its Member States in fulfilling existing commitments and addressing interconnected global challenges and opportunities. The report addresses three out of the five key areas identified in the anticipated Pact for the Future: ➡️  Sustainable development and financing for development ➡️  Science, technology and innovation, and digital cooperation; and ➡️  Youth and future generations. This year, the OECD achieved two significant milestones in anti-corruption:   ➡ It launched the first edition of the OECD Anti-Corruption and Integrity Outlook ➡ It adopted the revised Recommendation on Transparency and Integrity in Lobbying and Influence The OECD body responsible for these is the 𝐎𝐄𝐂𝐃 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (PIAC), formerly known as Working Party for Senior Public Integrity Officials (SPIO). I would like to highlight that this new name better reflects the mission, scope, and broad expertise of PIAC's delegates. It underscores our commitment to advancing evidence-based approaches to effective anti-corruption strategies, expanding beyond the traditional focus on civil servants' ethical behaviour to also address political and judicial integrity. This change will also support our ongoing efforts to protect whistleblowers, combat human trafficking, prevent policy capture, and ensure the proper financing of democracy. Congratulations to the delegates from all OECD member countries, and a growing number of non-members who make this working party the leading body for exchange and expertise on promoting public #integrity and preventing #corruption. In particular, I would like to thank for their support and leadership the PIAC Chair Simon Madden and the Members of the PIAC Bureau, Valeria Lübbert, Paulo Nogueira da Costa, Maroš Paulini, and Ali Karagoz, as well as the former Chair of the Working Party, Gloria de la Fuente who initiated this process. In parallel, I am happy to announce that the name of our team in the OECD Secretariat supporting this work has also changed to the 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
