For all of you that watched Part 2 of our Resilience 101 video series and thought to yourself, "that's great, but could I get a whole lot more about Robust Yet Fragile (RyF)?," ... we have a treat for you. The never anticipated, wholly unexpected, Robust Yet Fragile (Director's Cut) just dropped! It has double the magnificent minutes dedicated to RyF! Rejoice! And for those of you who did NOT see the original Part 2 ... you should go back and check it out, too, for the extra bits on tangles and tradeoffs. https://lnkd.in/edFGpsM6

Our friends at the Cognitive Systems Engineering Laboratory just (re)posted the beginning of their Resilience Engineering 101 video series. We will start posting them here, too, until we catch up with them. Enjoy!
Uh, in going back through our posts, we just realized that we never posted our RE 101 part 1 video, which sets the stage for the foundation for resilient performance (well, really, ALL systems performance). That foundation is viability! However the quest for viability over time leads to a number of classes of unforeseen conseque ... and there we go, stealing David Woods's thunder again! Watch the video to get the whole story. https://lnkd.in/epu_sduW

Todd Conklin is right in this podcast. Resilience Engineering ideas, techniques, methods and concepts are not getting into the hands of all of the folks that need them. And Eli Asher Balkin is right. We all need to reach out for partnerships to move forward together.
Our very own Eli Asher Balkin was on the #Preaccident Podcast with Todd Conklin. They quickly got deep into diagnosing our lab's, and our #Resilience Engineering discipline's, inability to communicate our message to, as Todd put it succinctly, the "people who need it the most." The truth hurts. We'll keep working to do better. Please take a listen to hear the whole 30-minute conversation, but here's a nugget. To be successful, our academics need practitioner/industry partners. To be successful, our practitioners/operators need an academic partner. https://lnkd.in/eUvsik6Z
