Let me introduce myself - I am the copper wire, the unsung hero of your vehicle. ⚡️   I am the ideal electrical conductor for car wiring, thanks to my excellent electrical conductivity, of course, but also thanks to my durability, my workability and my excellent recyclability! It's simple: I can be recycled forever! Weighing an average of 80kg in an electric vehicle, I am the lifeline that keeps your car running smoothly and efficiently. But my story doesn't end there. Thanks to the innovative practices of INDRA AUTOMOBILE RECYCLING, I am rescued from end-of-life vehicles and given a new purpose. My journey continues at #GAIAautorecycling, where I am meticulously recycled in a closed loop, ready to be reborn in a new car... 🔄. Did you know that engine remanufacturing dates back to the aftermath of the Second World War? Back then, resources were scarce. The need to rebuild war-torn economies drove the demand for remanufactured automotive components, including engines. This played a vital role in the revival of the automotive industry in many affected countries!   The Remakers was founded in 1949, initially specialising in engine remanufacturing. Over the past 75 years, the company has evolved by leveraging its engineering expertise and expanding into electronic and electrical components. This year, all this accumulated knowledge has been integrated into the activities of THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL. Does the world go round? That was the question raised at the “Forum Mobilités Transitions”. When it comes to circular economy of mobility, the answer is a resounding yes! 🌍 At THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL, our business model goes from car to car, as our Head of Innovation Hub, Nathalie Rey, explained in a panel discussion on “Eco Circularity as a Model for Mobility”. We collect old cars, dismantle them and value the parts and materials, to put them back into the automotive loop. ➡️ Whether they are reused, renovated or remanufactured, circular economy parts help extend the life of the vehicles. ➡️ End of life organs and parts are sent in closed-loop of recycling to be integrated into the production of new cars. Our key ingredients to create integrated circular economy solutions are partnership and innovation. They are both embodied in the mission of our Innovation Hub. Located in the heart of the #Refactory industrial site, the Innovation Hub supports startups contributing to climate solutions through a circular economy approach and an industrial scale-up. ➡️ A 6-month support program allowing startups to consider circular economy at each stage of their project ➡️ “Turnkey” industrialization offer based on the industrial capabilities, methods, know-how and skilled workforce in Flins. ➡️ Innovation Hub as a service, to help startups work on their projects in a stimulating environment (offices, trainings, synergies with other startups). Innovation, collaboration, and sustainability took center stage at Access2Tech Europe. 🌍 Last week we had the privilege of attending Access2Tech Europe, organised by EIT Manufacturing and Bpifrance Le Hub. This event was an important milestone in fostering collaboration within the French tech ecosystem, with a focus on the circular economy, energy efficiency and carbon reduction. Nathalie Rey, our Innovation Hub Director, contributed to a panel on "Circular Economy Strategies: Best Practices and Main Challenges", presenting THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL and emphasizing open innovation to integrate startups into our ecosystem. 🤝 She also engaged in matchmaking sessions with startups, further cementing our commitment to fostering new ideas and collaborations in favour of the circular economy. Instead of being discarded, I was sent to the Flins Refactory where the experts at #TheRemakers took care of me. With a legacy of excellence since 1949, The Remakers specialise in remanufacturing automotive components to the same quality as new parts. They remanufacture 40,000 turbochargers each year, providing parts that are 30% more economical and significantly more environmentally friendly. At the remanufacturing facility, skilled teams dismantled, sorted, inspected, and remanufactured my parts meeting high quality requierments. These remanufactured parts were then reassembled into a new Standard Exchange turbocharger, ensuring superior performance with a reduced environmental footprint. My non-reusable components? They have been responsibly sorted and recycled, closing the waste loop. This process not only conserves resources but also demonstrates the innovative approach of THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL. 📢 "Our factory in Flins started its transformation three years ago: from a car manufactory facility to the first industrial ecosystem dedicated to the circular economy of mobility in Europe. Not only have we transformed the industrial tool, but we have also transformed our competencies on site. We have created the first Campus of Industrial Circular Mobility, who reskilled and upskilled 1200 people working today on 12 new activities. We have become an open ecosystem, hosting five partners, from medium industrial companies to start-ups supported by our Open Innovation Hub. And that's just the beginning! We welcome all industrial players who share our belief that the circular economy is key to our future and want to develop it further!" said Catherine Leleu, Refactory Business Development Director, during the 2024 International Automotive Recycling Congress in Antwerp (ICM AG). Taking part in the round table "From recycling to circular economy in the automotive industry", Catherine Leleu presented the Refactory, a Renault Group industrial asset that became a key industrial basis for the circular economy activities of THE FUTURE IS NEUTRAL.
