🧶 In the world of textile traceability, a common question arises: are suppliers truly embracing the change? Over the past 18 months, we’ve observed 3 significant shifts among our suppliers:

ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation) entered into force this month. What are the 4 key measures to remember? 1️⃣ The ESPR establishes general principles for the European Commission to set ecodesign requirements, to extend the life of products and facilitate their repair, recycling and reuse. 2️⃣ The ESPR contains new measures on green public procurement. The aim is to steer the €1,800 billion spent each year by the EU in a more sustainable direction. 3️⃣ By preventing the destruction of textile unsold goods, ESPR encourages companies to adopt circular economy practices. This means considering unsold goods as a resource rather than as waste. 4️⃣ The ESPR requires the implementation of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) containing information on products, components and materials. It will be electronically accessible to facilitate informed decisions by consumers, manufacturers and authorities. From 19 July 2026 for large enterprises, 19 July 2030 for medium-sized enterprises, the destruction of unsold textile products will be prohibited.
