How can we help young people to become actors of change? 💭 🇿🇦 In South Africa, Cindy-Lee Cloete provides young people with the knowledge they need by creating positive actions that tackle local social and environmental problems. So she created WESSA Eco-Schools, a project that enables pupils to experience active citizenship in their schools. Based on 7 stages, their programme guides teachers and students in the choice and implementation of projects related to 11 different themes, including biodiversity and nature, energy, health and well-being, marine and coastal environments and eco-tourism. ♻️ The WESSA Eco-Schools model can also be adapted to fit in school curricula by creating online working groups with teachers to encourage the emergence of a community and share resources, experiences and best practices. ✅ In 2019, 19,711 teachers and 751,855 pupils took part in 1,563 environmental projects.
