Have you ever wanted to do things differently? Working with our LAB partners at The Peale, we helped produce a small-scale exhibit that has room to grow and evolve. "Moses Williams: Cutter of Profiles" is an iterative presentation that actually invites visitors to comment on its design, text, and presentation. Sticky notes—with visitor comments—share the walls with small text panels. We think this approach allows museums to truly hear from their communities. Test out the exhibit if you're in the Baltimore area! https://lnkd.in/e4jegD6K #designthinking #agileprojectmanagement

What is one way museums can become more visitor-centered? Easy answer: integrate evaluation into your exhibition design process! 👇
Whether done early in the design process or midway through, testing and prototyping your ideas with audiences has a range of benefits. It can help you shape an experience’s initial tone and direction, understand your audiences’ baseline, and tweak the important details so you can be confident audiences will have the transformational experiences you intend. We absolutely love partnering with design firms to lead audience testing, like we did on these awesome projects: -Helping The Design Minds, Inc. test new exhibits and interpretation for the Thomas Jefferson Memorial: https://lnkd.in/eQHD7Chb -Leading iterative rounds of audience evaluation to help Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) and PGAV Destinations shape experiences for the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution's transformation: https://lnkd.in/ea3RUiMB -Helping Luci Creative shape a community-focused history exhibition for North Carolina Museum of History https://lnkd.in/e3dEGgWK -Prototyping HealyKohler Design’s exhibit designs with visitors for a new National Park Service visitor center: https://lnkd.in/eg_czXMV Visit our Experience Design Research page to learn more about how we can support you in designing audience-centered experiences ⬇️

The Dalton team did some amazing work in the Heritage Gallery at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta. With such beautifully engineered automobiles in the space, it can be a daunting task to design the environmental graphics. Fortunately, our team made very smart choices to enliven the space and capture the essence of the Porsche experience. - The first collaborative decision with the client was to change the storyline from one about the "features" of Porsche automobiles to one about the "feelings" of the Porsche experience. - Next, our team made very simple, but incredibly powerful, updates to how the graphic spaces were used. From breaking up graphic panels that were previously duplicated to extending a graphic across an adjacent wall that was previously left blank. - The final touch was a complete rethinking of the gallery cards which previously featured only technical specifications and short historical notes about each automobile. Quotations from the individual owners who graciously lend their vehicles to the Heritage Gallery are now the prominently featured headlines about each automobile. The end result is a powerfully engaging space that is relatable to visitors across the spectrum--from owners with multiple Porsche automobiles to the newest aspiring fans. #environmentaldesign #environmentalgraphicdesign #brandedenvironments #environmentalgraphics #experientialdesign #design #creatives #whatinspiresme

The most compelling exhibits not only offer insights into the past or information about the world around us — they include a glimpse into the future, inspiration, and takeaway messages that shape the worldview of those who visit. This is a powerful thing — the power to shape solutions for the future. The forward-looking aspect of exhibits is essential in fostering a sense of responsibility and agency among visitors. By prompting reflection on the future implications of the content, exhibits can empower individuals to contribute positively to their communities and the world at large. Through thoughtful presentation and incorporation of takeaway messages, our collaborative approach ensures that exhibits not only inform and engage but also inspire action and change for a better tomorrow. Early on in the exhibit design process, we encourage our clients to consider the takeaway messages they want visitors to walk away with. How will your next exhibit shape the future? 📷 Conceptual designs we created for the National Building Museum #designingforsolutions #exhibitdesign #exhibitiondesign #exhibitiondesigners #exhibitdesigners

We are delighted to present our forthcoming scenographic work. This exhibit aims not only to display historical remnants but also to engage visitors in a thoughtful dialogue surrounding the complex narratives of our shared past. Located within a space rich with controversy, our exhibition harnesses the inherent tensions and complexities surrounding the representation of colonial history. The chosen venue, known for its contentious nature, serves as a thought-provoking backdrop that challenges traditional norms of museum display and encourages critical reflection. Central to our exhibition's design is the use of the stripe principle, a concept that has sparked debate within the realm of historical restoration. Rather than shying away from this polemic topic, we have embraced it as the cornerstone of our architectural framework. The stripe principle, traditionally a subject of contention, has been ingeniously integrated into our layout, becoming the very essence that guides visitors through our collection. This deliberate choice transforms controversy into a provocative force, engaging audiences in an unconventional yet immersive journey.#adhocpractice #hanoiadhoc

As someone who spent over a decade in live events and often wondered 'who *%#^ designed this?' The chance to work on event spaces is deeply meaningful to me. Hopefully I can help the next batch of live event folks have spaces that are magical for attendees, designed with production in mind, and revenue generating for owners. So, people looking for event space in Eastern Washington with easy parking that's well connected to city core, Wenatchee Convention Center should be on your list. It is a great Stantec team, with Tara Damschen on Acoustics and Norm Lanum, RCDD on Technology. Want to take your Convention Center or event space to the next level? You _need_ Tara, because without quality acoustics, you're doomed. You don't always need 3D modeling with VR aural walkthroughs, but you do need acousticians to ensure spaces are going to meet your needs. Trying to solve it after the fact with technology, even AI is expensive, not sustainable and operationally risky. (Norm and I helped too.) Our partnership ALSC Architects has been wonderful. Great use of schedule, and meaningful collaboration. As construction with Absher Construction Company begins, I'm ready to see this design come to life! https://lnkd.in/d9XuV9bC
