The Canadian Ambassador to China, Jennifer May, delivered welcome remarks to the Atlantic Canadian Seafood Export Café on February 27, 2024. Forty industry buyers from Hong Kong and South China were introduced to the Ambassador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia provincial officials, as well as nine Atlantic Canadian seafood company delegates. Hong Kong was the last stop for the delegates, including new clients to the market after Seoul, Manila and Macao. Canadian snow crab, sea whelk, blue mussels and halibut were showcased and tasted by the guest attendees. The event raised awareness and reputation of quality and safe supply of fish and seafood from the Atlantic provinces. Currently, Vietnamese coffee is present in more than 70 countries and territories. Vietnam is the second largest coffee exporter in the world. According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), Europe currently consumes about 40-50% of coffee exports from Vietnam and the region. This is still in good demand. The International Coffee Organization has just said that increasing tensions in the Red Sea have caused some shipping lines to adjust coffee shipping routes, affecting coffee exports from Southeast Asia and East Africa to Europe. Some shipping lines have had to increase surcharges to compensate for extended transit times when taking detours to avoid the Red Sea area. Consulting firm Edge Point currently predicts that tensions in the Red Sea could affect 36% of total global coffee exports in the first quarter of 2024, mainly coffee exports from Southeast Asian countries. Lack of uniformity of halal standards and regulation in different nations is a major factor expected to hamper the global halal logistics market growth Increase in international trade activities in rising economies, rise in trade-related contracts, and worldwide logistics infrastructure, as well as development of information technology and transportation areas are opportunities for the halal logistics market.
