Women play a crucial role in water collection but with climate change, this task has become increasingly harder. Nature Climate Change predicts that by 2050 daily water collection times for women without household access could increase by 30% globally and up to 100% regionally, under a high-emissions scenario. This increased burden affects women's health, limits their educational and economic opportunities while contributing to poverty. Did you know women make up just 33% of researchers in the physical sciences? Despite significant progress, gender diversity in research still varies greatly by field and region. Women remain underrepresented as authors on research papers and face substantial challenges in innovation, with 3/4 of patent applications being filed by men-only teams. Learn more in Elsevier's latest report on Gender and Diversity in Research and discover how we can foster greater gender equality in science.
