L'avis 5 étoiles de Ryan Always fun! Good prices, good food, good hours. Those of you that ever went to the Davis Farmer's market know what I'm talking about. They keep going til well into the afternoon. Who wants to wake up a 6am the Saturday morning after partying like a rockstar all night... I can stumble out of bed at 11, stumble down to the lake, stumble over to the tamale stand for some good food and blood orange juice. Energy boost! By the time I grab some fresh gourmet quality veggies, the hangover should be gone. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan We had a party of 6, but they gave us a small (even for 4 people) table. There was barely anyone in there at that point. Server was a little spacey and forgot a couple of things. They are very friendly and informative about the food choices, though, and the food was good (more use of citus and aromatics than other local places). Spicy dishes were actually spicy...mmmm. Portions are standard size for Ethiopian cusine, but we did find a hair in one of the salads. Eh. The honey wine and meta beer there rules. The place could be a little cleaner. Priced a little higher than a few other ethiopian places in the area. -
L'avis 5 étoiles de Ryan Nothing like Cheeseboard-like (same co-op group) pizza and a great selection of breads right down the street. I go there at least once a week. Open on Sundays now, which is perfect after long Saturday nights....know what I'm sayin'? The selection varies, so it's always fun to go check out what they have. Very nice staff overall. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan Ever need good, homestyle, late night, vietnamese food (also have some chinese dishes as usual), this is a great place. Plus they deliver. The interior is dated and could use a good wipe down...eh, good service during non-busy hours makes up for it... Okay okay, I prefer to just take it to go--I'm guess the OCD kicks in. The service seems a little rushed when hours are busy. Good specials and great Asian beer selection. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan Good deals on beer. Can't be dollar Sapporos. Good sake. Restaurant is large and clean. Nice dishes and all that. Party platters seem to be a good deal too. Especially if you just have to feed a few drunk people. The dine-in food here is just okay. The tuna nigiri and Ikura was excellent, but everything else was bland. The tamago tasted like it was made hours ago. Udon was pretty bland as well. The food is way overpriced. You could get much better sushi for less across the street at Coach. Plus they have large, affordable sake servings as well. And the sushi chefs there keep daring you to drink more sake. Who am I to turn down a dare? -
L'avis 5 étoiles de Ryan Nice guys, Darragh is awesome. They don't fix more than needs to be fixed, but don't overlook anything. After a check up/adjustment, my bike shifted and idled more smoothly. Prices are about average in terms of service for your motorcycle or scooter...but you get fast turn around, and quality work. Very flexible in drop-off times. They carry the essential gear, but selection is limited like most smaller shops. They could carry more brands/selection of gear...mostly KBC, scooter targeted AGV's , and Firstgear merchandise. They cover all the basics. Great location in Rockridge. I always take my bike there. -
L'avis 4 étoiles de Ryan The only problem here is the way the service is setup. Maybe its more of a management issue. One server for tons of tables, and the food takes a while to come out. So if you plan on coming here, don't be in a hurry, since it may take a while...but it'll be well worth it. You may not want to eat for say...a month...before coming here though. The portions are huge--not a problem most complain about. Basket of fried vegetables...so good, so filling. I'm so full. Burger comes...can't even take a bite. Okay maybe one. -
L'avis 4 étoiles de Ryan I only go for the food...well, I don't go there...my lazy ass gets their food delivered. Fast delivery (30-45 min), even in the later hours. Talk about late night comfort food. It's non-greasy (at least not as much as the usual Grand Lake chinese joints), portions are generous, and the menu is quite the bloody bounty (yaaaaaaar!) of Chinese-esque cusine. I guess that may take away from it comfort-food-ness. They even cater to the vegetarian crowd. Meatless everything...even meatless Roast Duck (WTF???!). You heard me. It's not bad. It mainly duck piece shaped tofu drenched in the sweet sauce they use for Hong Kong style roast duck. Very weird, very good. Delivery dudes are nice guys, and always carry correct change! -
L'avis 4 étoiles de Ryan Finally, I actually enjoy movies in a theatre again. Wow, a real theatre, haven't seen one of these since the Crest in Sacramento (Awesome place by the way, but don't know if the managed to stick around). My top 5 reasons to see a movie here instead of the typical mall theatre: 1. It brings back the majesty of cinema--restored back to its Early 20th century period charm, lots of gold accents and red curtains. Even one that covers the screen before the film starts. I guess this stuff can be cheesy, or not, but either way it makes the movies enjoyable. They did miss on a few points...the upper balcony was converted to bathroom--they had to put it somewhere--but how cool would a balcony be?...and the fake box sections are obvious. But most people are there to watch a movie, not judge restoration design. Seats are nice and wide, and the place is set up more like a concert venue rather than stadium seating. The employees actually enjoy their work there (or pretend to). 2. It doesn't cost $50000/person to see a second rate modern film, ala AMC. 3. The sound system isn't all bass or too loud, perfectly clear and balanced, without hurting your ears. 4. Previews aren't four years long. 5. They choose to show the most popular main stream titles, as well as interesting indie films and documentaries. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan They are nice there. And don't use chemicals...an eco-friendly cleaners. Clothes come returned cleaned and spotless. Prices are really really high though, hence only three stars...especially when it's not a shirt or something they can do in house. You should ask first before leaving your stuff. I guess those who would come here are the same crowd that shops at whole foods and berkeley bowl...so maybe price for eco-friendly isn't so much of an issue... Think about replacing things like cheaper rugs before bringing them in. It may be less $$$....or....you could take it to a discount dry cleaner, have it sprayed in formalin and gasoline, then take it home and set up a playpen on it. Don't do that. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan Good deal for the slice, salad, and soda. A "slice" is enough for a meal and a half. Crust is partially crunchy like I like it. Pizza is pretty standard though, nothing noteworthy. It smells like pizza and pine-sol inside the joint itself. Mmmmmm, pine-sol. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan Not too expensive. Hot towel before dinner - nice touch. If they only offered a tea bath, massage, and facial, we'd be set. Decent prices, not too expensive, but not a deal. Sushi is standard, nothing memorable. Good layout, but this is more of a family place. Don't bring a date here expecting to get any afterward. It's loud like most family places are. They do have little corner tables though away from the crowded sushi bar. Lot's of kids running around...and I'm glad parents are bringing kids to places like this instead of the typical fast food or Applebee's. Douchbags... The staff here is friendly and patient. Though it did take a while to get our check. -
L'avis 4 étoiles de Ryan The perfect hangover recovery. Nothing like 2 eggs covered in tomatoes and a big glass of orange or grapefruit juice to flush the Nob Creek out. Very nice servers, quick service after 11am. Who gets up before then anyway? If you did, you need to drink more the night before. Food is above average. Very good, but it doesn't top the primo breakfast joints. Sandwiches look good. Prices a little higher, but ingredients seem to be of quality. The potatoes taste like the bastard child from a 3-way of a delicate spice mixture, skillet, and awesomeness. -
L'avis 4 étoiles de Ryan Great hardware store. Great way to get away from all the stupid semi-pro craigslist contractors and ass-munch house flippers that did their part in ruining the economy at home depot. They could stand to have a wider selection and better (later) hours though. -
L'avis 3 étoiles de Ryan The food here is quite decent. Nice place, good setup, pretty clean. First experience there was great. Nice servers, quick turnaround. Last experience there was a little different. Server was pretty stoned or something cause she kept forgetting everything, including what was and wasn't available that day. Prices are a little high.
