A World Series of Poker player hilariously ran off after winning $1 million bounty to play his next hand

Most of us would like to think winning a million dollars wouldn’t change us. Valentyn Shabelnyk can say it for sure.

The card player was posted up at the World Series of Poker, where he remains in contention for the coveted bracelet and has been knocking out fellow entrants.

Because he’s playing in a bounty tournament, that means for every player he knocks out, he gets to draw a random prize from a giant chest. That’s basically all you need to know about what happened next.

Shabelnyk came up to the chest to pull his envelope, opened it up and, boom, he instantly became a millionaire. Yet his face barely moved. His eyes hardly lit up. Apparently, all Shabelnyk could focus on was the fact that he was the big blind at his table and needed to get back immediately before forfeiting any chips.

That was very much not the response the WSOP host was expecting.

Honestly, props to Shabelnyk for keeping his head in the game. If that’s how he reacts to winning a $1 million prize draw, good luck trying to read his face to tell if he’s bluffing or not.
