Building Inclusive Cultures That Thrive

About us

We are all about building cultures that empower EVERYONE to thrive. Over the years we have seen the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging (DEIB) movement evolve from being a legal requirement to something that is becoming a part of the DNA in organisations that really value their greatest assets - their people. However, the dial has not shifted as much as we would like to see. WHY IS THAT? Well, we believe that we’ve not concentrated enough on building workplaces where trust is strong and people feel psychologically safe. Therefore, we are on a mission to help businesses build more inclusive workplace cultures that do just that. Cultures where everyone: ✅ can have a great experience, ✅ love where they work, ✅ feel like they truly belong and ✅ become the best version of themselves. SO HOW DO WE DO THIS? Well, we promote human connections through our range of talks, workshops and coaching sessions. We bring our lived experience to these sessions, of what it feels like to belong and then not belong as we navigated Sophie’s transition together. We couple this with practical advice on what you can do if your culture is not as inclusive as you’d like it to be. Sessions include:- ✳️ Englightening Webinars ‘All Things Trans – Ask Anything’, ‘Why Does Belonging Matter?, ‘LGBTQIA+ - What’s it all about?’, ‘Working Remotely – Mental Health Maintenance’ ✳️ Workshops ‘Living Your Values As A Team’, ‘Coaching 101 for Managers’, ‘Culture – Setting Your Team Up For Success’ ✳️ Training ‘Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)’ and MHFA Refresher ✳️ Group and 1:1 Coaching ‘Building Inclusive Cultures’ and ‘Be A Memorable Manager’ WHY ARE INCLUSIVE CULTURES IMPORTANT? If you work with us you’ll not only develop a brand that people want to work for. Not just that but you’ll build a culture where your people are: ✅ more confident, ✅ more engaged, ✅ more productive and ✅ more innovative! WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THAT? Let's talk today - [email protected]

Well, not long to go now, exactly one week today!!!! Going back a couple of years ago I never imagined I would be sat on a stage giving my thoughts and insights on the importance of Inclusion and Belonging in building healthy workplace cultures. Being a bit of an introvert and someone that suffers from anxiety I never thought I would be able to do it. However, a year into our passion project Belonging Base, my co-founder Sophie Wood and I have not only done this several times, we've also been podcast guests, been keynote speakers and done our own free video content (all available on our website www.belongingbase.com) and we've crafted talks on a number of Inclusion and Belonging subjects that we've had the pleasure to deliver to organisations that are commited to making their workplace culture more inclusive. If you want to get involved in the discussion, there's still time to get your tickets for the COUNT ME IN - Turning DEIB Words Into Actions taking place on Sunborn Gibraltar Yacht Hotel Resort on Thursday 12th September. Come join us and all the other speakers by booking via https://lnkd.in/dpXWAbxJ - see the agenda attached to the post. Caroline Brooks, MA, CPCC, ACC, Marlene Dalli, Natasha Whittaker, Sophie Wood, Suparna Malhotra, MBA, CPCC, Kelly Higson, Christina Marie Giuffré, Jenny Victory, Mark Chichon, Christina Thakor-Rankin, Jo Abergel, Adrian Sladdin, Samantha Grimes, Leah Carnegie FCIPD, Jolene Gomez, Prof (Dr) Adam Boddison OBE, @Christian Santos. #DEIB #BelongingMatters #InclusiveCultures #MentalHealthAware

😆 “Let’s do it, it’s now or never!” 😆 This was part of a conversation I had with my wife Sophie Wood a little over a year ago. I’d been made redundant and had upskilled as a professional coach and her role was changing at work. Redundancy was on the cards.  Suddenly, an opportunity presented itself to do something completely different. That afternoon over a couple of glasses of wine we decided on a concept and rough business model. As the afternoon progressed, we bounced company names around – The Wonderful Woods, The Enchanted Woods, The Diversity Department, The Inclusion Igloo and suddenly we both agreed on Belonging Base! Why? 🤔 Well, we decided that we were going to start with the end in mind (great advice from Stephen Covey), the feeling of belonging that as human beings we all look for in life. That and the domain site was available so we bought it right there and then that same afternoon🤭 🤭 🤭 We launched on September 5th 2023 (it’s our birthday today🎂), we did it without any investors, we used our savings to invest in ourselves. It’s been an amazing year and despite the fact we are yet to make a profit we’ve:- 💗 …been able to share our gender transition journey with a range of audiences to raise awareness and highlight how you turn up at work is impacted by whether you feel like you belong or are just fitting in. The feedback has been so heartwarming – ‘impactful’, ‘powerful’, ‘insightful’, ‘thought-provoking’, ‘emotional’. 🧠 …crossed paths with so many individuals from a diverse variety of companies who understand the importance of bringing mental health conversations out of the shadows and making their culture more open and supportive. 🎤 …shared our thoughts and insights through social media, through panel speaking at live events, through webinars, through podcasts. 🫶 …had some wonderful opportunities to work with organisations like Playtech, System C, Fusebox Games, KPMG UK, Lottoland NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), CIPD Hereford & Worcester Branch The HR Confidence Club-Consultancy thanks for your support. So what does the future hold? 🤔 🧱 It feels good to find your IKIGAI. So we’re holding our nerve and building on the foundations we’ve laid down. 🦋 We’ve recently added Transitions Coaching to the portfolio – this guides people through changes like Job Promotions, Career Changes, Redundancy and Gender Transition. 💡We’ll be launching ‘The Memorable Manager’ training/coaching programme. Managers will become more self-aware and better understand the impact they have on team success through the culture that they create. We’ll empower them build inclusive cultures where everyone is seen, valued and heard. 📖Last but by no means least we’re writing a book about our gender transition journey, what it’s taught us and what we are doing with the learning, so watch this space for updates. #InclusiveCultures #BelongingMatters #MentalHealthAware #DEIB #HappyBirthday

We did it! 🎉 🎉🎉 As we approach our first birthday later this week, we're feeling truly humbled by the fact that just over 1000 people are now following Belonging Base. I (🤗 Danielle Wood) and my A-MAZ-ING wife, Sophie Wood, would like to thank all of you that are following us, it's so great to have you on the journey. We'd also like to give an extra special thank you to everyone that has invited us to share our gender transition story and/or attended one of our mental health courses over the last year. It's you folks that re-inforce our shared belief, each and every day, that what we are doing is worthwhile. 🤔 Why wasn't this one viewed more? ALLYSHIP 🫶 - 'the state or condition of being or having an ally (in various senses). The state or condition of being a person who supports the rights of a minority or marginalised group without being a member of it'. - Oxford English Dictionary. Not only did we make it super simple, everyone can do it, it's less than 7 minutes long and if I am completely honest if I had worked out how to edit bits of it would have ended up in the bloopers!🤭 What could you do more of? #allyship #lgbtqia #belongingmatters #inclusivecultures
