MARYLAND — Several of the nation’s best hotels are found in Maryland, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report that highlights more than 37,000 hotels across more than 400 popular travel destinations.

The top-ranked Maryland hotel is the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, which came in at No. 162 nationally.

Here are the top five hotels in Maryland, according to U.S. News:

  1. Four Seasons Baltimore
  2. Sagamore Pendry Baltimore
  3. Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels
  4. Ulysses in Baltimore
  5. Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore

U.S. News said the rankings are based on a comprehensive, transparent methodology that includes each hotel’s star rating, the aggregate opinion of published travel experts and overall customer satisfaction expressed in guest reviews of luxury hotels and resorts on TripAdvisor.

The publication also ranks the nation’s best resort hotels. In Maryland, the top five resorts are:

  1. Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels
  2. Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cambridge
  3. MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill
  4. Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Oxon Hill
  5. Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City

Overall, the best U.S. hotels are:

  1. Acqualina Resort & Residences, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
  2. Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, Surfside, Florida
  3. The Langham, Chicago
  4. The Peninsula Chicago
  5. Montage Laguna Beach, California

The best U.S. resorts are:

  1. Acqualina Resort & Residences, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
  2. Montage Laguna Beach, California
  3. Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, Waimea, Hawaii
  4. Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida
  5. Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa, Rancho Santa Fe, California

The hotels at the top of their respective lists recognize that today’s travelers want culturally authentic experiences and top-level service, according to Zach Watson, senior travel editor at U.S. News.

The 2024 Best Hotels rankings are intended to offer travelers dependable options to stay for every type of trip, “balancing location, amenities and quality service to ensure an enjoyable experience,” Watson said in a news release.

U.S. News also publishes rankings of hotels and resorts in Europe, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda to help travelers plan their vacations and excursions.
