I could not put this book down, I loved it. It has everything, romance, intrigue, drama, favourite words, sadness, emotion, tension and pace. I enjoyed the way the story was told in the past and the present, the reflection on the relationships involved and the characters. CL describe feelings so well and develop this story perfectly.

💬 Second chance romance💬 Childhood friends (to strangers) to lovers💬 Alternating timelines💬Macy’s POV onlyThis was my first Christina Lauren book and has been a highly anticipated read for me but as always I’ve put it off due to fear of what was to come, I tried as best as I could to go into this blind although I did nearly spoil a major part for myself 👀Childhood friends to lovers is another elite trope that I don’t see enough of, or clearly I’m not looking in the right places. Straight off the bat I loved Macy & Elliot’s friendship and as time went on seeing their relationship develop romantically was so beautiful, it all happened so naturally and didn’t feel forced at all. It is very clear that the two are soulmates considering after eleven years apart they found their way back to one another (however I did feel like this was rushed and will discuss the spoilers below) I loved how Macy referred to Elliot as her everything because he truly was right from the moment they’d met. I thoroughly enjoyed this book but probably not as much as the five star raters have, had it not been for Elliot my rating would’ve been lower because he is one of the sweetest MMCs I’ve read and is definitely up there with Archer Hale on the book-boyfriend list. Also I kinda pictured him as Matthew Gray Gubler, gotta love a skinny and scrawny nerd 😍⚠️SPOILER⚠️Something that occurred near the end when the big conflict was explained had annoyed me and I know some people can relate to this as well. The incident with Elliot was never fully addressed, imo he was sexually assaulted and so it felt like a slap in the face to men who experience SA but I’d seen someone say we don’t know what state Emma had been in, it would be easy to assume as the reader that her intentions were bad since that’s what was presented to us but because it was never fully addressed and so rushed at the end we won’t ever really know😭 also I felt like there were so many plot holes with no one from Healdsburg/ Elliot’s family not knowing that Duncan had died. Also if Elliot could do a quick Google search of Macy went they’d reunited why had neither of them done so within the last eleven years? Anyway rant over, this book will definitely be giving me a hangover 😭Follow @bilkandbooks on IG for more 🤍
