We Serve Those Who Serve

About us

Asian Charity Services (ACS), a registered charity, was established in 2007 to serve nonprofit organizations that serve Hong Kong's neediest citizens and communities. We provide pro bono business consulting services, training and solutions to other Hong Kong-based charities so that they may operate more effectively and better serve their communities. There are thousands of charities across Hong Kong making a difference in their local communities every day. Charity leaders are often experts in their field of work but may need help in areas such as capacity building, developing sustainability, long term strategic planning, and fundraising. By providing pro bono business resources and capacity building tools, ACS enables them to be more impactful and focused in fulfilling their mission. Since the introduction of our pro bono consulting and training programs in 2008, Asian Charity Services (ACS) has served over 1200 NGO leaders in Hong Kong. While the majority of ACS' nonprofit clients are currently based in Hong Kong, many run programs that impact lives across Asia. Mission and Vision: We serve those who serve: Our Mission is to effect change and raise standards and professionalism of small to medium-sized nonprofits, enabling them to be more effective, efficient and sustainable in serving our communities. We envision excellence in the standards and operations of the nonprofit sector, which maximizes its positive impact on people, communities and nations, cultivating a more empathetic and serving society.

The ACS team is thrilled to host IGNITE: Building Resilience seminar on “Common Ground: Fostering Cross-Sector Partnerships to Scale Impact” happening next Tuesday! 🤗 As part of the seminar, we recently conducted a survey with 62 social purpose organizations (SPOs) and 15 corporates to explore their cross-sector collaborations. Here are some key insights: (1) Our findings reveal that corporates and SPOs primarily engage in short-term, low-touch interactions, such as one-off events and volunteer opportunities. Notably, 93% of corporates participate in one-off events or volunteering, while only 40% provide operational funding or support to their SPO partners.   🤔 What can corporates and SPOs do to build partnerships that truly address the needs of SPOs and create lasting impact for beneficiaries? (2) We also explored which 🌏UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) participants are prioritizing. Many are actively addressing issues like Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Quality Education (SDG 4). However, there is a concerning lack of focus on priorities identified by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Hong Kong, such as ending poverty (SDG 1) and promoting Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).   🤔 How can corporates help promote responsible consumption? What actions can we, as consumers, start taking today to reduce our consumption and waste?   We look forward to inspiring some actionable steps at the seminar!

Are you constantly lost in a jungle of files? Ever felt the struggle of sifting through tons of papers just to find one piece of crucial info? Our summer intern, Mark, majoring in Computer Sciences with a focus on AI and cloud technologies, is trying to develop a chatbot for ACS that locates, tracks, and summarizes our files effortlessly! Mark shared: “I am using the prepared files to train the chatbot to make it more comprehensive and accurate in answering questions. I’m also measuring the costs to make it more budget-friendly.” We look forward to seeing Mark's final product! #asiancharityservices #ai #chatbot #knowledgemanagement #capacitybuilding

Meet Body Banter, one of the NGOs participating in PIVOT, dedicated to empowering youth voices in conversations about body image and mental health. As they reached the end of their PIVOT journey, we sat down with Stephanie Ng, the Founder, and Noel Lam, the Chief Operating Officer of Body Banter for some reflection: "Embarking on the PIVOT journey felt like a body scan, uncovering hidden growth and potential. Guided by an array of tools, notably the Theory of Change workshop, we’ve gained greater clarity on our mission and vision, truly aligning each daily task with our long-term goals. We felt truly supported throughout this period, able to closely journey with the consultant team as well as ACS, who provided us with practical assistance. We now know that we have new friends who we can turn to whenever we need support." If your NGO would like to uncover blindspots, identify areas for improvement, create practical solutions and plans, and work towards gradual progress, register your spot for PIVOT!
