<<Close Collaboration on Intelligent Construction Programme with Zhejiang University>> The joint programme, MSc in International Real Estate (IRE), has achieved significant milestones for two decades since its inception in Zhejiang. This success has fostered a close collaboration between the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) of PolyU and the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Zhejiang University. Building on the success of the IRE programme, the representatives from both institutions convened at the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Zhejiang University on 29 May 2024 to discuss future collaboration. The delegation included Prof. Michael YAM, Head of BRE, Dr. SUN Yi, Associate Head (Partnership) of BRE, Prof. DUAN Yuan Feng, Associate Dean of the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Prof. WANG Hai Long, Director of the Research Centre of Intelligent Construction and Engineering Management, as well as Ms ZHU Jiping and Ms YUAN Jing from the joint centre. Recognizing the important role of intelligent construction in national development, the discussions at the meeting were highly productive. Both sides explored the possibilities of launching a new joint master's programme in intelligent construction, along with various collaborative research projects. The agenda also included the possibility of establishing a joint laboratory for intelligent construction in Zhejiang, further solidifying the partnership and commitment to innovation in the field. <<BRE PhD Alum Dr Xuhua CHANG Soars to a Professorship at Tongji University>> BRE PhD alumnus Dr Xuhua CHANG has achieved a prestigious professorship at Tongji University in China, marking a remarkable journey fuelled by dedication and research excellence. Dr Chang’s path began at BRE, where his PhD research on university-industry technology transfer (UITT) garnered recognition and laid the foundation for his career. After graduating, he joined Tongji University in 2015, quickly rising through the ranks, thanks to his contributions to intellectual property and technology transfer. His talent and passion earned him a well-deserved professorship, a milestone celebrated by BRE and Dr Chang himself. He reflects fondly on his time at BRE, particularly the collaborative environment fostered by his supervisor, Dr Patrick S.W. Fong, former Associate Professor of BRE. This spirit continues in his current research team, where Wednesdays are dedicated to collaboration and inspiration. Looking ahead, Dr Chang is excited to delve deeper into university entrepreneurship and the broader innovation ecosystem. He aims to expand his academic network, contribute original insights, and translate knowledge into impactful outcomes. Dr Fong echoes this sentiment, praising Dr Chang’s early brilliance, work ethic, and collaborative spirit.
