About us

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is the largest vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong established in 1982. VTC provides valuable credentials for some 200,000 students each year through a full range of pre-employment and in-service programmes with internationally recognised qualifications. VTC draws strength from its 13 member institutions, breadth of programmes and variety of accredited qualifications to provide a new world of opportunities to learners of all ages and abilities. Championing a teaching and learning approach that is practical, hands-on and outcome-based, our ultimate aim does not only centre on the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but equally on action itself. Our "think and do" approach cultivates the passions for learning while imparting the necessary skills and know-how for success.

    【VTC-ITE International Student Seminar 2024: Collaborating for Sustainable Development】 The biennial VTC-ITE International Student Seminar (ISS), jointly organised by VTC and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore, was successfully held in Hong Kong on 26-28 June. This long-standing collaborative event is a testament to the strong partnership between VTC and ITE. This year's seminar, themed "ISS Youth Change Makers", brought together over 600 students from ITE, Shenzhen Polytechnic University and VTC. Through their impressive project presentations and active engagement, the students demonstrated the significant value of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) in nurturing creative and socially responsible future leaders who can contribute to the long-term development of societies. By providing this platform for talented students, VTC and ITE are empowering the next generation to create a more sustainable and impactful world.   • 【“TEDxHKDI: Design, Community and Wellbeing” ignites passion and imagination for life】 Design is all around us, seamlessly integrated into our daily lives, enhancing not just convenience but also fostering inclusive and welcoming public spaces that strengthen community bonds. Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), a member institution of VTC, recently organised its inaugural “TEDxHKDI” event. They invited ten insightful speakers to participate. Though they come from diverse backgrounds, their perspectives intertwined to create sparks: multimedia public relations expert Akina Fong, students from different disciplines such as visual communication, software engineering, and illustration design, as well as speaker from the UK, who shared their unique views and ideas on design, community, and well-being.   • 【VTC and ITE students join hands to prepare Singaporean themed dinner at “Singapore Night”】 VTC and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore have been working closely together and organising various exchange activities to promote the development of vocational and professional education and training in both places. Since 2015, VTC and ITE have been hosting themed dinners in Hong Kong and Singapore, providing students with opportunities for culinary exchanges and professional practice. Recently, at the "Singapore Night" held at the Chinese Culinary Institute, culinary students and teaching staff from both institutes presented a dinner featuring traditional Singaporean delicacies, showcasing students’ learning outcomes.   VTC will continue to work hand-in-hand with ITE to advance the development of vocational and professional education and training, jointly cultivating more outstanding talents.   #VTC #ITE #VPET #InstituteofTechnicalEducation #SingaporeNight

  • 【VTC Carbon Neutrality Forum - Driving towards a zero-carbon future】   The world is facing the challenge of climate change, and a collective effort is required to reduce carbon emissions in order to achieve carbon neutrality and sustainable development.   VTC has been committed to promoting environmental protection and sustainable development, actively aligning with the Government's development strategy. To respond to the Government's vision of achieving carbon neutrality before 2050, VTC held its first Carbon Neutrality Forum last month. At the event, Dr Lam Ching-choi, Chairman of the Council for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development, Mr Wong Chuen-fai, the Commissioner for Climate Change, and other experts shared their insights and experiences on topics like carbon reduction strategies, renewable energy, green transportation, low-carbon transformation and environmental education. The forum attracted over 700 online and offline attendees.   Moving forward, VTC will continue to actively support the Government's sustainable development strategy and jointly promote the development of relevant talent training.   #VTC #CarbonNeutralityForum #SustainableDevelopment #CarbonReduction

    【Education Commission visits the VTC to understand the latest VPET development】   The Chairman of the Education Commission, Dr David Wong, and members of the Commission, joined by Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms Michelle Li, visited the Tsing Yi campus of IVE, a member institution of VTC, on 25 June to learn about the latest development of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) and VTC, including the newly established member institution HKIIT.    During the visit, VTC Executive Director Mr Donald Tong exchanged views with the delegation on talent development. Principal of IVE (Tsing Yi) Dr Daniel Yan and Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology Dr John Hui also shared the latest development of the institutes with the delegation. Delegation members toured the Smart City Innovation Centre and the Electric Vehicles Training Centre to gain a thorough understanding of VTC's role in grooming skilled professionals for various industries through quality programmes and advanced training facilities. The delegation also interacted with students, gaining firsthand insights into their learning opportunities at VTC and their aspirations.      #VTC #IVE #VPET #SmartCityInnovationCentre #ElectricVehiclesTrainingCentre

  • 【VTC-ITE International Student Seminar 2024 officially kicks start in Hong Kong】 The VTC-ITE International Student Seminar (ISS) 2024, jointly organised by the VTC and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Singapore, officially kicked off today. We are honoured to have the Acting Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr CHEUK Wing Hing, as the Guest of Honour to share his insights with the students at the opening ceremony. During the opening ceremony, VTC and ITE signed a Supplemental Memorandum of Understanding, solidifying their commitment to expanding collaboration in creating new programmes to enhance practical skills for youth and promote VPET. Since 2007, VTC and ITE have been taking turns to host the biennial ISS event. Under the theme of "ISS Youth Change Makers", over 600 young people from Singapore, Shenzhen and Hong Kong gather at HKDI to explore ways to shape a better future and contributing to communities.
