【VTC strengthens Putonghua education to enhance students’ competitiveness】 As the economies, societies, and cultures of the Mainland and Hong Kong become increasingly intertwined, Putonghua education in Hong Kong plays an increasingly vital role. VTC has been committed to providing quality and relevant vocational and professional education and training to nurture professional talents. In 2011, VTC signed an agreement with the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the Ministry of Education to establish VTC Putonghua Training and Test Centre. Over the years, the Centre has offered quality Putonghua training and assessment, driving deeper collaboration and a stronger relationship between Hong Kong and the Mainland.    Last Saturday, VTC renewed its cooperation agreement with the Institute, marking a new milestone. 【Voices of Success】Innovative spirit for cross-disciplinary applications Depression can be detected earlier through innovative solutions. IVE graduate Alan Ho, inspired by his mother's illness, utilised his expertise in data science and analysis to create an "AI-powered Early Depression Screening System".   This system analyses users' speech patterns, emotions, and keywords to assess their risk of depression, and provides mental health guidance and suicide prevention recommendations, generating reports to assist professionals in offering timely support.   Vocational and professional education and training (VPET) has inspired Alan to cross disciplinary boundaries, integrate diverse knowledge, and develop this innovative and practical solution that benefits those in need.
