What We Do
Dress for Success Hobart provides appropriate clothing and styling advice for women who may be seeking to re-enter the workforce after a period of unemployment, may need to dress formally for a range of other situations such as appearances in court, attending a funeral, returning to the community after a period of imprisonment or any other circumstances when access to our services would make a difference.
Dress for Success Hobart also provides a comprehensive career support program building skills, knowledge and confidence to assist women in achieving their employment or study goal. This includes CV and resume advice, job application tips, interview preparation and career support workshops.
We welcome all women, trans and gender diverse people comfortable in women’s spaces to offer a non-judgemental, empathetic and professional service that strives to empower and help reclaim confidence.

PEOPLE
Chief Executive Officer – Amanda French
Amanda is the CEO and one of the Founders of Dress for Success Hobart.
Amanda has worked in the not-for-profit sector her entire career and is passionate about supporting and empowering women to achieve positive outcomes. She has worked in the alcohol and drug sector, child protection and most recently contributed to the growth of the suicide prevention initiative SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY in her role as Business Development Manager with Relationships Australia Tasmania.
Amanda is currently a non-executive director of Make-A-Wish Australia and has been a branch volunteer with the organization for almost 10 years.
Amanda has a Masters of Criminology and is a member of the Australia Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).

Maria Skillern – Volunteer Board Secretary
Maria joined Dress for Success Hobart as the volunteer Board Secretary in September 2020. Maria retired in late 2019 after a long career working for the Tasmanian Government public sector primarily in project management, governance, risk management and project quality assurance.
Maria applied for the position at DFS Hobart as she felt that she would be able to leverage from the skills she developed through her working life to empower the women of Tasmania to achieve economic independence. She is able to utilise her excellent written communication skills developed through her working career as well as her high level of attention to detail.
Maria has a strong focus on ensuring that the projects and organisations that she is involved with follow best practice governance principles with a focus on being ethical.
