USA Basketball announced today the teams set to compete at the 2024 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup Sept. 11-15 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The USA men look to defend their 2023 title, while the women look to return to the podium for the second time in the event’s five-year history (silver, 2022). The men’s team features three NBA G League players and one recent college graduate while the women’s team features three NCAA Division I athletes and one international professional. The 2024 USA 3×3 U23 Men’s National Team includes John Butler Jr., Alex Fudge, David Johnson and Jameer Nelson Jr.
Recently, Curry stopped by CNBC and admitted that he still indulges in watching his own highlights from that contest. “Seven game series, it’s a long build up. This was just one game, 40 minutes, can you get it done? And obviously, the France game, gold medal game in France. That last three minutes was storybook stuff,” said Curry. “It still hasn’t really sunk in. I mean, winning a gold, we expected to do that, we knew it was going to be hard, but how it happened? I still watch some highlights.”

Steph Curry shows his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr wasn’t the only member of his organization who appealed to the 2024 Democratic National Convention this week. Warriors superstar Steph Curry made a virtual appearance on Thursday to show his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election for the DNCs final night, sporting his 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal in the video. Curry compared the unity that it took for Team USA basketball to bring home the gold to the unity he feels Harris will bring to the country. “This is about preserving hope and belief in our country,” Curry said in his remarks supporting Harris’ candidacy for president. “In the words of Michelle Obama, do something! Go vote. Be active. Let’s show out in November like never before.”
ClutchPoints: “From a basketball standpoint, how did the Olympic experience go?” Jayson Tatum: “It’s been a crazy summer. Fortunate enough to win my second Olympic gold medal on the national team. That was a hell of an experience.” 🙌 (via @stltoday , h/t @NoaDalzell )

Carmelo Anthony on rather having a gold medal than NBA title: It's a different level of pride having USA across your chest

During a podcast interview with BasketNews’ Donatas Urbonas, Anthony offered a reflective take on his illustrious career and the significance of his Olympic achievements. The conversation took an intriguing turn when Urbonas posed a challenging question to Anthony: “Would you trade your three Olympic gold medals for one NBA ring?” Carmelo Anthony: “No. When we talk about global sport, for me a medal means something totally different than an NBA championship. They both have their own separate meanings, but winning a gold medal, it’s the passion, it’s the pride that you have, not just for a city or a state, for a whole nation, for a whole country you’re winning for. It’s a different level of, I would say, pride that you have to have when you’re wearing USA across your chest, or you’re wearing Lithuania across your chest. It’s a totally different feeling than Knicks, New York across your chest.”
Team USA Basketball’s triumph at this year’s Paris Olympics apparently had D’Angelo Russell feeling some type of way. The Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell was roasted on social media Monday for the boastful message that he posted about himself to X. In response to Steph Curry’s incredible late heat-check in the gold medal game against France, a fan on X wrote, “You guys realize Dlo gets hot like Curry did yesterday? Or should we just ignore the facts?” That message drew the attention of Russell himself, who quote-posted it with the ironic caption, “I humbly agree.” Russell would eventually delete his post though. Bad takes from fans are nothing new. But for Russell to co-sign on that one had social media in hysterics.
