On the Platform Merdeka Mengajar, the submission of Aksi Nyata reports has experienced a remarkable surge, with month-to-month growth rates averaging between 53% and 65% over the two years since its launch. This rapid increase presented a challenge, as human validators were required to spend more time and effort on repetitive, time-consuming tasks. To address this, our Data Analytics team introduced an innovative solution by applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to enhance the efficiency of human validators and improve the platform's service for Pelatihan Mandiri users. Our Data Analytics team, including Figarri Keisha (Data Scientist) and Bagoes Rahmat Widiarso (Data Analyst), documented the process of integrating machine learning into the Aksi Nyata document validation system. This integration allows us to automate routine tasks, such as initial validations, freeing human validators to focus on tasks that require critical thinking and nuanced judgment. We had an incredible experience at the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Summit (AIIS) 2024! During the main conference session, “The Road Ahead: Building a Sustainable GovTech Ecosystem,” our Chief Technology Officer, Muhammad Ghifary, shared our journey of leveraging AI to transform the education system. “To overcome the challenges in public sector technology development, we first needed to transform the mindset and work culture between GovTech Edu as the tech team and Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia), by adopting a user-centric approach. This shift has enabled us to create a high-quality, relevant technology ecosystem for our users, including AI implementation.” At GovTech Edu, we’ve developed groundbreaking AI innovations through the Platform Merdeka Mengajar, with Asisten Guru (Teacher’s Assistant) being one of the generative AI-powered solutions. Amid the euphoria of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day, we also want to reflect and discuss the challenges that our education system will face in the future. Pushing a collective mindset shift to focus on improving learning quality through a more student-centered learning approach. This is important to ensure that the education system can equip students with the essential skills to succeed in an increasingly complex and dynamic world. B. Ensuring the accessibility of quality education for all students regardless of location and socio-economic status. The challenges include the inequality of infrastructure and various resources. C. The need for a unified vision and effort across all levels of government regarding the importance of educational improvement, especially during government transition. Last week, our Head of Content, Putri Lestari, participated in the research publication of the MENGEJAR program (Matematika Menyenangkan, Sesuai Jenjang, dan Interaktif) by The SMERU Research Institute. This initiative aims to accelerate the competency of mathematics teachers by providing training in tech-enhanced learning methods. During the panel discussion, we got to share our best practices and the impact of providing high-quality training access for teachers across Indonesia through technology. The session was also attended by notable figures in the education sector, including Iwan Syahril, Director General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, Nunuk Suryani, Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel, as well as representatives from SURALA Suluh Karsa, Tanoto Foundation, and ITB.
