Once, Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." That's what Rona Elita Maharani always keeps in mind. She graduated high school in 2023 and always wanted to pursue a higher degree at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, her dream campus. However, due to financial problems, she had to delay her college education. As many as 3.5 million high school graduates in Indonesia need help to continue their education, work, or receive training. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) revealed this data based on research conducted up to August 2023. This finding is why Kitabisa was encouraged to support sustainability education through the BISA (Be Influential Scholars and Activists!) Project. The BISA Project is a Kitabisa and LAZNAS Salam Setara Foundation college preparation program for underprivileged students. It provides online and offline college preparation support to students from disadvantaged families in various cities across Indonesia. Out of 2,000 applicants, 128 participants were selected for the program. From January to July 2024, these participants received coaching, access to online learning platforms, intensive camps, and internet quota support for their studies. This year, the BISA Project program announced that its participants had a 69% success rate in gaining admission to Indonesia's top state universities. Out of 128 participants, 88 passed the entrance exams for state universities such as UI, UGM, ITB, IPB, Brawijaya, Airlangga, UNS, UNDIP, ITS, and UPI Bandung. Rona is among those successful participants. Now, along with the other participants, Rona can smile brightly because they can continue to pursue their dreams. As a sustainable education program, the BISA Project ensures its continuity by embracing collaborative funding principles. This allows corporations, institutions, and the public to sponsor the program. Funding collaborators for this program include: 📖 Beasiswa Jalin Cita by Jonatan Christie (National Badminton Athlete), 🗳️ Zakat from PT Maskapai Reasuransi Indonesia (Marein), 💙 and donations and zakat from the public through Kitabisa. In its implementation, the BISA Project also collaborates with learning platforms Skolla EdTech and Brillian Academy. All the scholars also received Asuransi Saling Jaga Keluarga, life insurance from Asuransi Kitabisa, to protect them and their families. Well, congratulations, Rona and all of the participants! Bet that we are already familiar with mangroves, right? The coastal ecosystems with salt-tolerant plants thrive where land meets the sea. They support diverse marine life, protect coastlines from erosion and storms, and store significant amounts of carbon. But here's the kicker: Despite their importance, mangroves face threats like development and climate change. Conservation efforts are crucial for preserving these valuable ecosystems and their benefits to both nature and communities. That's why these four young and amazing cyclists are willing to embark on a 1,700-kilometer bicycle journey from Jakarta to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for approximately 41 days, led by partially deaf figure, Iman Sulaeman (Dayak). Bringing the mission 'Hidup Minim Emisi' and 'SalingJaga se-Indonesia 🇮🇩', they will plant 1,000 Mangrove trees in five cities along their route, namely Cirebon, Kudus, Surabaya, Ketapang, and Karangasem. This movement is a part of ✨ Ekspedisi Mengembara Biru ✨ An effort to restore environmental function held by Askara Nusantara from Kitabisa collaborates with the Komunitas Mengembara Biru, Perpustakaan Alam Malabar, and is supported by SalingJaga Life Insurance from Kitabisa. Earlier this month, our CEO Vikra Ijas acted as a member representative of our life insurance program SalingJaga to deliver support to the family of the late Pak Wonadi. Pak Wonadi was a motorcycle taxi (ojek) driver who worked in Mount Sindoro basecamp, taking hikers to the first post. One day, his motorcycle tripped over a rock as he went back from the first post. His bike swerved and he landed head-first. Pak Wonadi died later at the hospital. Through our partnership with Mount Sindoro Kledung Basecamp operator, our life insurance program automatically enrolls basecamp workers and hikers who purchased tickets. This means that the family of the late Pak Wonadi is entitled to receive cash support from our insurance program. When we delivered the Rp50+ million cash support to his wife, Ibu Yuliah, we highlighted the fact that this is not our company’s money, but rather funds that belong to members - both who joined online through the Kitabisa app and other members through our group insurance partnership. Once, I and others #RelawanBaik participated in #VoluntripKitabisa held by Kitabisa at a local eatery in Palembang. The event was attended by several sanitation workers from the city's Environmental Services Department. It was a lively gathering where we engaged in various activities together. We started by introducing ourselves, sharing stories, and getting to know each other better. Laughter echoed through the venue as we played games and sang songs together, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. As we sat down for a meal, we enjoyed a delicious feast of local dishes, bonding over our love for food and cultural exchange. We captured these joyful moments with group photos, commemorating the camaraderie that flourished throughout the day. Additionally, we collaborated to assemble and distribute essential groceries to those in need, embodying the spirit of community and compassion. ✔️ Skill Learned: Teamwork and Collaboration Participating in this volunteer activity taught me the importance of teamwork and collaboration. By working alongside sanitation workers and fellow volunteers, I learned how to coordinate efforts effectively to achieve common goals. This experience not only strengthened my interpersonal skills but also deepened my appreciation for community engagement and collective action in making a positive impact on society. #volunteer #teamwork #collaboration
