Once again, we must ask: why do governments and businesses view a reduction in plastic production and usage as such an insurmountable challenge? What will it take for us to declare, “NO MORE PLASTIC”? The evidence is mounting—fertility issues, strokes, regressive autism, cancers, heart conditions, and now, the alarming discovery of plastic in our brains. Recent studies revealed that an examination of the livers, kidneys, and brains of autopsied bodies found microplastics in all samples. Shockingly, the 91 brain samples contained, on average, 10 to 20 times more microplastics than other organs. As Matthew Campen, a toxicologist and professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of New Mexico, noted, these findings were unexpected. In fact, 24 of the brain samples collected in early 2024 showed an average of 0.5% plastic by weight. It’s time to #TurnOffThePlasticTap. A busy few days moving truckloads of plastic to our warehouse for recycling. This of course is caused by pollution from agricultural runoff, and sewage. I’ve shared lots of updates about the baby otter 🦦 that I named “Kling Kling” I rescued less than a year ago. Kling Kling is a victim of pollution she’s almost blind and all the other otters in her family were killed by a chemical spill. Today she is doing great and lives with my as a pet. So when I saw this story I had to repost it. Again CO2 emissions are the least of our problems, pollution is killing everything on our planet. We can’t survive without clean waterways. The toxic sludge on the River Bann must be cleaned.
