In the effort to transition 3,000 businesses towards a circular economy, Sirsak organized sector-specific focus group discussions on April 25, 2024. These discussions allowed industry representatives to share their perspectives on defining circular economy, addressing challenges, and identifying solutions to advance the cause. The sessions showcased the strides companies are making in this journey, including redesigning processes, engaging in community projects, and striving for systemic change. Here are some of the key takeaways: 1. Our guests had various understandings on what circular economy is. The most interesting is that it is a concept where “fruits become fruits again”. 2. Circular economy is a multi-stakeholder task. It is important to involve everyone in the process. 3. Education is the most important thing in this transition. Having everyone to get the sense of belonging in contributing will help to multiply its effects. 4. Some things that will help to ensure circular economy implementation to happen are existing regulations with enforcement, stable demand for the products, and public education that are in line with government’s program. We anticipate more businesses adopting this transition for full implementation of a circular economy in Indonesia. We would like to thank Ibu Tania W. Ariningtyas from PT. Mayora Indah Tbk; Ibu Natasha Gabriella, Ibu Agnes Imada Pinarsinta Manurung, Pak I Komang Agus Arisudana, and Ibu Adristie Aulia Widodoputri from Coca-Cola Europacific Partners; Pak Alexander Nayoan from Indonesian Hotel & Restaurant Association | Perhimpunan Hotel & Restoran Indonesia; as well as Pak Irfan (Fanbul) Prabowo and Ibu Amelia Mega from ISMAYA GROUP for the invaluable insights during these discussions. Additionally, our sincere thanks go to our venue partner, Indonesia’s Climate Tech Hub ECO-S Coworking & Office Space in providing a conducive environment for these discussions. Looking forward to more collaborations in the future. #CircularEconomy
