Throughout 2023, our subsidiary PT Perkebunan Kaltim Utama I (PKU) successfully reduced emissions by 17% in the palm oil sector through energy efficiency measures. We implement disruptive practices in managing our palm waste ♻️ 💥 We are proud to achieve 100% recycling of non-hazardous waste generated from company operations. Palm kernel and palm fiber waste are processed into biomass fuel. The heat from burning biomass fuel combustion generates electricity that powers our mills, estates, and worker housing 🏘️ This also marks our step towards achieving electricity self-sufficiency. TBS will continue actively promoting energy efficiency across all our operations. Our commitment to restoring and protecting biodiversity and local habitats is in line with our goal to achieve sustainability and #TowardsaBetterSociety2030 🌎 We carried out a High Conservation Value (HCV) assessment to initiate the strategy owned conservation. A total of 4,097 hectares of conservation areas have been identified and 30 hectares of land have been designated as conservation zones. 🌲🌲 🙋♀️ 🙋♂️ TBS actively collaborates with local communities to gather their valuable insights into the surrounding flora and fauna. Electrum, our joint venture with GoTo Group, has participated in the "Signing of Cooperation for the Development of the EV Ecosystem" to accelerate the development of the EV ecosystem in Indonesia. As part of this initiative, Electrum has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT PLN (Persero) to collaborate on the advancement of Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the country. As a pioneer in developing the EV ecosystem across upstream and downstream sectors in Indonesia, we recognize the importance of strong multi-stakeholder partnerships. Collaboration between regulators, utility providers, and industry leaders is crucial to accelerating the development of a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem. These partnerships will drive massive adoption and pave the way for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system. Patrick Adhiatmadja, Managing Director of Electrum, stated that one of the key initiatives of this collaboration is the construction of interchangeable swap stations. These stations will be accessible to electric motorcycle models from various manufacturers, further enhancing the EV infrastructure. Patrick emphasized that this initiative will positively impact the EV sector by increasing the volume of swap stations, fostering the development of soft skills, and bringing positive benefits to the EV business in the industry. Electrum aims to double the number of swap stations in the Greater Jakarta area, with a goal of supporting 5,000 to 10,000 motorcycles on the road. To date, Electrum has successfully established 250 swap stations in the Greater Jakarta area, and more than 2,000 motorcycles are currently in operation in Jakarta. In recent years, market participants have actively contributed to the growth of the EV market in Indonesia. This momentum will drive further positive and innovative developments, accelerating the transition to electric vehicles in the country. Our ongoing involvement in this program highlights our commitment to integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our core business strategies. This year, our innovative project aims to empower rural communities with a replicable waste-to-energy system. This initiative addresses the critical challenges of energy access and waste management in remote areas, converting waste into a reliable source of electricity and promoting sustainable development. Our solution processes over 600,000 kg of waste annually, generating 45,000 watts of electricity and benefiting more than 2,300 people.
