ABP Clones recently held a Family Fun Day at the fantastic Peace Link Park in Clones town. The excellent event attended by over 600 people, included five-a-side football, magic shows, face painting and a pull-up competition. A bucking rodeo bull machine was a popular attraction, while the local fire brigade held a demonstration of their work. The day included a BBQ to feed the families. The Peace Link Park is at the heart of the community in Clones, with state-of-the-art sports facilities including grass and all-weather pitches, a running track, games area and a sports centre for indoor games. Well done to all who organised this brilliant event. #TeamABP #FamilyFunDay

ABP UK has become a sponsor of a National Farmers’ Union (NFU) scheme to highlight the sustainability of British food to elected representatives. The NFU (National Farmers' Union) Food and Farming Fellowship Scheme will showcase the industry by enabling participating MPs to see first-hand how sustainable and affordable food gets from field to fork. The scheme has strong cross-party representation with Conservative Party, Labour Party and Liberal Democrats MPs signed up. Their year-long itinerary will cover different farming sectors and conclude with a graduation dinner in Westminster where the MPs will be recognised for their work in building up an understanding of the UK food and farming industry. NFU president Tom Bradshaw said the scheme was designed to create a group of “champion MPs” who are aware of the issues affecting the farming and food sectors. Alongside ABP UK, the scheme’s sponsors are the Agricultural Industries Confederation, Arla Foods, Barfoots, the British Egg Industry Council and Fareshare. ABP Ireland was delighted to once again be associated with the Iverk Show in Co Kilkenny, which attracted a huge crowd of around 25,000 people on Saturday, 24th of August. Kevin Cahill, Managing Director of ABP Ireland and Poland, gave the opening address at Iverk, which is Ireland’s second-oldest agricultural event. ABP sponsored eight animal classes and two kids’ classes at the show, where we spotted fantastic future farming talent.   The highlight was the ALDI/ABP Irish Angus All-Ireland Bull Calf Championship, where over 60 of the best Angus bull calves in Ireland were competing for a prize fund of over €40,000. Alan Gibbons from Co Roscommon won two of the three bull calf championship prizes, an incredible achievement.   Established in 1826, the Iverk Show is now one of the leading one-day agricultural shows in Ireland. It gets its unusual name from the Barony of Iverk, where the showground is located.   Congratulations to the organisers for hosting another excellent event!   #TeamABP #IverkShow2024

Ten colleagues from ABP Lurgan took on the challenge of running the Belfast City Marathon earlier this year and lived to tell the tale. Their dedication and determination paid off, as they not only completed the 26.2 mile course but also raised an impressive £2,236 for the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund. The 2024 Belfast City Marathon was the biggest in the city’s history, with a record 5,500 runners taking to the streets. The ABP Lurgan team’s participation was about more than just crossing the finish line; it was about making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease. Well done to the team for their incredible achievement, both on the course and in their fundraising efforts. #TeamABP #BelfastCityMarathon
