For Ireland – a country with a total maritime area more than seven times the size of its landmass – offshore wind can play a significant role in its #renewable energy journey. With 300 wind farms generating close to 4.8 GW of clean energy, Ireland is third in the world for installed wind power capacity per capita. Presenting itself as a prime location for many of the world’s leading #offshore wind players with its strong infrastructure and sturdy support framework, Ireland has become a hive of activity in this space. Shauna Higgins, VP of Engineering & Green Economy at IDA Ireland, explores the current renewable energy landscape in #Ireland and its future potential in this article: https://lnkd.in/e3AfZvfy #InvestInIreland #InvestInExtraordinary

Some companies are well established before expanding internationally, others are on an accelerated timetable to capture a fast-growing market. That was true of Vanta, a cybersecurity and compliance startup founded in 2018 in response to rising numbers of high-profile data breaches. In 2022, Vanta marked a significant milestone by expanding its international presence with a new European HQ in #Dublin. Today the company employs close to 30 people with anticipated growth in the coming year. “What I really like about the model of having a local site lead is that they have connections, so you have people with a strong #support network to get stuff done. For somebody that does not have that network, that’s where the IDA Ireland adds incredible value – they will save you so much complexity. You can go to the source, sometimes even bounce ideas off. They have been there. And that is really helpful” - Paulo Rodriguez, Head of International at Vanta. #InvestInExtraordinary #LandandExpand #Cybersecurity

Ireland has one of the most ambitious #decarbonisation plans of any country in the world, making it an attractive location for global companies to expand or invest in for the first time. Ireland’s support for businesses is driven by its commitments to key targets such as achieving a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030. By this point, 80% of the Ireland's electricity will be generated from renewable sources. ‘’Ireland offers many opportunities in terms of sustainability. One of them is the ability to tap into 100% renewable energy provided by wind farms. We have worked with several green suppliers in #Ireland to help achieve our sustainability goals and have made really great progress to date’’ – Paul Keogh, Site Head at Takeda in Grange Castle, Dublin. Every company eventually needs to expand into new markets, and the #EU, with its 449 million population and €15.8 trillion GDP, presents a significant opportunity. Public software businesses, for example, generate up to 40% of their global revenues from Europe. To serve such a significant group of customers effectively, a direct presence on the continent is essential. But the question is: where? We believe #Ireland is that place. Here is why: ▪ English-speaking, highly skilled, and multicultural. ▪ Young (one-third of our population are under 25). ▪ Well educated (62.7% - Eurostat, Population by educational attainment level, sex, age and citizenship, April 2024). ▪ Located in Europe and a member of the EU. ▪ A consistent, open and progressive tax regime. Learn from companies such as eSentire, Zendesk, Supermetrics, Vanta and Diligent that have successfully expanded to Ireland, and see how IDA Ireland can support your business in scaling internationally.
