  In a new report published today by Public First and commissioned by Sky, data shows just how integral sport is to our society, not only making us happier, healthier, and better connected but also significantly boosting the UK economy.   We’re a nation of passionate sports fans, and the benefits of this extend far beyond the sporting field:    🏆 Economic growth: Sports fans are set to generate an additional £3 billion annually for the UK economy by 2034, rising from £10 billion in 2023.    🏃♂️ Health & wellbeing: Sports inspire us to be more active and connected. UK adults clocked up 3.6 billion additional hours of exercise in 2023, with 54% saying that sports have a positive impact on their mental health.    🍻 Boosting local businesses: The spending power of sports fans has a ripple effect on local economies, generating increased footfall for businesses like pubs and restaurants. In 2023, Sky Sports generated an estimated £1.1 billion extra revenue for British pubs—equivalent to 230 million pints ofbeer!   Sport is more than just entertainment; it’s a positive force on society.
