The 11th of July was a momentous day for The Together Academy. We celebrated our new space. Thanks to SMBC Aviation Capital our young adults will learn, train, work and socialise in one of the most iconic and beautiful buildings in corporate Ireland. f28, SMBC AC headquarters will break new ground in inclusion and soon thanks to SMBC Aviation Capital it will be the norm to expect to see people who learn differently accepted across all of our communities in Ireland. We open the doors to our vocational training programme, training cafe and work spaces in September. We can’t wait to show you how gorgeous it is. Bob Boles started out by taking apart a lawnmower at 13 in his garden shed in Tipperary. Then a motorbike, then cars. His curiousity for machines meant that summer holidays were spent either working on cars in the shed or panel beating at the local garage for extra cash. But it was the ad in the paper for Shannon Aerospace for aircraft maintenance technicians that became his true calling. He was literally Class 1, Toolkit 1 (having B as surname helped) and his mantra was and is 'the only thing more complicated than an aircraft is a rocket'. Bob and I worked for years together at RBS (now SMBC) Aviation Capital - I can bear testament that his knowledge of aircraft is unparalleled, but for me, his passion for explaining the technical side of the business is truly inspiring. He genuinely makes the complex uncomplicated, and it is no surpise that he is a sought after lecturer in the industry. Ready to be inspired? This is what Robert Habeck Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz, #BDLI President Michael Schoellhorn and Christian Scherer Airbus Aircraft urged in their opening statements at #BAS24! ✈️ Michael Schoellhorn stressed „Words alone are not sufficient; we need timely decisions and courageous leadership“ from politics - but equally importantly industry and airlines.✈️ Robert Habeck similarly suggested that the government could serve as an anchor customer for new technologies! 💧🌳 Christian Scherer argued that „if aviation industry was a country, we’d be number 17 in the world by GDP“. Hence, there is an immense need to accelerate the adoption of aircraft innovations! Let’s put sustainability into action! 🤝
