Our Summer Skills Bulletin 2024, compiled by our colleagues in SOLAS' Skills and Labour Market Research Unit (SMLRU), provides valuable insights for those examining ways to reduce gender segregation in the Irish labour market. Speaking about the report Joan McNaboe, SOLAS Research Manager said: “If we continue to access only half of the labour supply pool to meet demand in key skills areas, it will make bridging the skills gap incredibly difficult.” Andrew Brownlee, SOLAS CEO said: "This vital data produced from our Skills and Labour Market Research Unit provides relevant labour market information and highlights the importance of gaining further insights into patterns associated with gender segregated occupations." Great to see a piece in the Irish Examiner detailing key stats on the growth of #FET in 2023: 👉 1 in 10 people have benefitted from apprenticeships or FET 👉 More than 150,000 people who undertook construction safety training 👉 Ireland now has an apprenticeship population of over 27,000 👉 FET sector supported more than 33,000 Ukrainians in English-language and other skills "As we have emerged from the challenges and restrictions of the pandemic, we have seen a surge in demand for FET and apprenticeships provision, with the learner base growing by some 17% from 2022 to 2023." - SOLAS Chair Sean Aylward "SOLAS leads the transformation and change in the FET sector, but none of this is possible without the collaboration and support that we receive from the hard-working and passionate people working across the FET system." - SOLAS CEO Andrew Brownlee Read more at: https://lnkd.in/dPSZNCc9
