BE VERY CAREFUL WITH AXOS BANK, VERY SLY
Five years ago, I took out a PL with this bank. It was for an emergency medical condition, and I was grateful for the loan [I did have excellent credit, was working and own a home and condo]. The loan agreement demanded that they receive the monthly payments via auto withdrawal from my bank account. All that went well, [although they were NOT supportive at all during Covid pandemic] and I have NEVER been late or missed a payment. This month was to be my last payment [August 2024] - THEN I get an email from them stating that they were unable to withdraw the payment. I immediately checked my bank account and had more than enough funds to cover the payment. I called Axos and was informed that because it was my Final payment they would NOT accept an auto withdrawal-I would need to send a check- AND THEY CHARGED EXTRA, PAY UP FRONT, INTEREST FOR TWELVE DAYS PAST when the auto withdrawal should have been made, even though they will be cashing the check earlier than the date they charged interest to!!! Today they email me saying my payment is past due-SERIOUSLY, I SPOKE WITH THEM AUGUST 12th- the day the payment was supposed to be auto withdrawn- AND THEY KNEW IT HAD BEEN SENT OUT IMMEDIATLY ON THAT VERY DAY, August 12th. I had to CALL THEM and ask them WHY they did not auto withdraw the payment!!! IF THEY CAN EMAIL ME ABOUT NOT GETTING THE AUTO PAYMENT & ABOUT TRYING TO SAY IT IS PAST DUE-THEN WHY CANʻT THEY EMAIL ME INSTRUCTIONS AHEAD OF THE FINAL PAYMENT DUE DATE, TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THE AUTO WITHDRAWEL ON THE FINAL PAYMENT!!! Very, Very POOR CUSTOMER service and sly unethical way to get extra interest from their consumers-I WOULD NOT recommend Axos Bank!!
