Why I'm quitting Chase
I have enjoyed banking with Chase. For the most part, the bank and services are commendable. However when I ran into my first 'glitch', Chase refused to 'back up its client'; having preferred to maintain a relationship with a crooked overseas 'business' whose modus is to routinely rob US customers. I get it. Chase is in a profitable relationship with this 'merchant'; nevertheless - as Chase is putting pecuniary gain over integrity, I no longer trust them to guard my interests. VIZ:
I made a purchase on a Flashy clothing web site -Leglectic - that is 'outfitted' to appear as a US company. Initially the product (lady's TALL designer Jeans) took a long time to arrive, so I checked the Leglectic reviews on Trust Pilot and the BBB web sites, and found HUNDREDS of complaints. In a nutshell, you place an order, you pay, and they send you garbage that may be the same 'category' (pants) but bears absolutely no resemblence to what you paid for. (In my case, they sent a pair of crappy children's pants)
Enter CHASE - they accepted my dispute, 'No merchandise received'.. and asked the merchant 'did you send anything'. Leglectic said 'Yes',. SO Chase DROPPED the dispute. When the crappy children's pants did arrive, I reopened the dispute and provided reams of documentation to show that I did not receive what I ordered. Not only to include photos of the children's pants -alongside a pair of tall womens pants from Kohls that reflected what I had originally ordered from Legletic - showing the great contrast. But I sent also 5 pages of copies of reviews from Trust Pilot and BBB showing the EXACT SAME CRIME - people order based on a photo, pay for the product, then Leglectic sends something .. anything.. just to say they 'sent the merchandise', regardless of the fact that they never send you what you ordered.
But they tell Chase, 'YES, we sent the merchandise'.. (heheh) And Chase is like 'Great! Claim closed!'
(OK so it's just $50.. but not only is it the principle of the thing, I have had this happen 2x before where a merchant in China sent me garbage, and I even Paid to RETURN it to CHina and STILL never received a refund.. So I was out the shipping twice as well.)
A couple of weeks after I sent a full file of evidence to CHASE hoping to reopen the claim - no one bothered to call me. So today I CALLED and spoke to a Chase Representative AND a 'supervisor'. I was asked 'Did you try to call the merchant'. I said yes.. but they NEVER return messages. (Which is the only way to reach them. They NEVER pick up the phone). (Which is BTW, the experience of ALL the complainants from Trust Pilot and the BBB.. Legletic takes the money and runs.. they do NOT respond to requests for returns or refunds)
So then the Chase representative said, 'You have to deal with the merchant'. We cannot reopen the claim because they DID send you merchandise.. And around and around the merry go round it goes. I ordered one thing, they sent another.. but they can now say 'We sent them a product'. That it's not what you ordered is immaterial (no pun intended). It doesn't matter to the crooks at Leglectic.. since this is their modus-operandi - but what is infuriating is that it also doesn't matter to CHASE.
Which in MY BOOK, tarnishes their high falutin image and reputation - rendering them nothing more than a money laundering partner with the crooks in China that go by the business name - Leglectic.
MORAL of the STORY - BE ATTENTIVE TO FLASHY WEB SITES that masquerade as legitimate businesses - and if the bank continues to work with them, in spite of reams of evidence to their perfidy, quit the bank too, and.. since the criminal element in this world has exploded in ranks.. find a bank that will back you up
