This Institution Supports Fraud

This bank allowed a criminal to open a credit card account in my name without proper verification.
Once I found out my credit score had DROPPED 191 POINTS from Experian due to this, I contacted the bank, and they did NOTHING to change the reporting to the credit agencies. I am currently fighting with them and Experian to have this FRAUDULENT DEBT removed from my credit file. An identity theft claim was filed with the FTC and still this bank will not change its reporting. I would NEVER suggest doing business with this institution. They support fraud and do not do their job in securing personal information or confirming identity when opening accounts.
STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!

Don't make an account with Citizens

Don't make an account with Citizens, they close accounts with no prior warning.
Just found out today that a Credit Card Account that I've had for over 10 years was closed without notifying me. They closed it at the end of July, it's 3 weeks later and still no notification. I called the bank, and they said it was closed for inactivity.
I found out through Credit Karma as they send me notice when things change on my Credit Report.
Citizens Bank is completely useless when it comes to Client Services.
The Manager I spoke with said to me, "let me check and I'll have another letter sent to you". I said what's the point of that, I already know. Useless!

Extended hold on a payroll check

Extended hold on a payroll check, made to feel like a criminal. Closed my account with no notice and mailed a cashiers check regular mail that is now lost or stolen. Rude representatives.

Inappropriately holding deposited funds

Citizens placed a 6 day hold on a deposit I made for a cashier's check. Totally unacceptable. They indicated they have no way to validate if the check is authentic yet when I called the bank who provided the cashier's check, they could validate in seconds that Citizens has the funds. They are crooked and are likely doing this to thousands of customers to take advantage of our money.

tons of hidden fees

tons of hidden fees, for example nobody tells you this when you are signing up, but you basically need to have deposited money or purchased something once each month in order to avoid a 20$ fee to your checking account.

Another thing, they freeze your account if you spend over 300$ on something without telling them first, as if it is their money or something, what a s h t t y company, it took a lot of work but I changed banks now

I regret that I can’t go lower than one…

I regret that I can’t go lower than one star. Consumer protection is a joke. Despite filing a fraud dispute within the required timeline Citizens Bank has refused to honor their agreement to reverse the charges. Each call brings a different story. Stay away if you value your security and your money.

Branch in Stop and Shop

Branch in Stop and Shop
Raynham Stop & Shop
36 New Cape Hwy
Raynham, MA 02767
(508) 824-2165

Bank teller Nate (who also refused to give me his last name) accused me of fraudulent check cashing after i handed him a government check for being my mother’s caregiver. He continued on to berate me and embarrass me telling me the check is fake and he will not service me. I felt racially profiled as I am a black woman and Nate is a white male.
This ultimately had me close my citizens account. As I’m walking away he shouts behind me for the whole store to hear “you forgot your penny you poor black b****. Try seeing if another citizens bank will cash that fraudulent check for you.” I will never return to that branch and Nate should be heavily penalized for his behavior with either termination, suspension, or given a course on how important it is to show inclusion and equality, anger management, and proper customer service etiquette.

Moved from N H to Florida and wanted to transfer my $$$ to new bank. Told by Citizens that they can only do a transfers in person. I can't believe I can't get my money. they have been sitting on my $$$ and I have been trying to get it. for One month now. BTW the closest Citizens bank is 4 hrs away and then 4 hrs back. What a scam. Are other banks unable to do transfers without the owners of the account. I doubt it.

I applied for a HELOC loan

I applied for a HELOC loan. Following the bank's instruction, opened online Fastline account and allowed them to check my credit, but found I was not allowed get in the online account. No explanation at all. I should have checked reviews for this bank before allowing them to pull my credit which now shows as an inquiry.

Debit card fraud…

I have never used my debit card anywhere other than a citizens bank branch. NEVER. I have never used it in the internet or in person at any store or gas station. Somehow, fraud keeps occurring. No one can explain to me why this is. I lost 8 hours of work today not including a trip to my citizens branch. I was told I would have to close my checking account and open a new one for the third time this year, resulting in countless more hours of missed work. Stay far far away from citizens bank.

Citizens Bank… Never again

I was grandfathered in to Citizens Bank from HSBC after they discounted their global accounts.

From day one they’ve been a nightmare. Online banking wouldn’t work, started charging fees for everything: paper statements, a balance <$5k.

After I closed my account I accidentally sent money to it. When I phoned them to help return my money they said there was nothing they could do, no one I could speak to, no other department they could transfer me to and then hung up.

Very corrupt

Very corrupt. I mobile deposited a check and they put it on an extended hold for unknown reason. I told them it cleared from the bank it was issued from but they said it has to go through federal reserve first. Huh?? They’ll make any excuse to hold your check. So if it already cleared on issuer’s end and they do this for thousands of customers, they’re sitting on millions to do some short day investments like in currency etc. Easy money they’ll ever make.

I have citizens Pay through Vivint and…

I have citizens Pay through Vivint and I regret that I did this! They are so unprofessional to the point where they are over charging my account every month when I have a contract that states I pay a certain amount monthly! My monthly bill is paid in full every month and I’m harassed by customer service as if I owe them money when I know I don’t! I think it’s time to take legal action against them for their unprofessional conduct! Not to mention the affect it has on my credit score and reputation!!!

The worst bank ever

The worst bank ever. My son has had nothing but problems with them, always overdrafts for nothing he has done. I had to go to my bank The Royal Bank of Scotland to sort it all out one time. He had pages of overdrafts for no reason at all. They sorted it out and he owed nothing. The RBS has now cut ties with Citizens and no wonder, they are a long established and respected bank in the UK and would not want to be affiliated with such a crooked establishment.
Now my son has had problems because someone hacked into his account and deposited lots of bogus checks which no one flagged. Altho he has had his account blocked for trying to make a $5 purchase at a vending machine in the VA Hospital. Yet no one contacted him about a $6,000 overdraft. I think it must have been an inside job, someone who could get around the security system. The bank now wants to close his account and take funds from his account which he does not owe. They will not accept any responsibility for what has happened.
My son is a disabled vet from the Gulf War, he is struggling to get by and this has devastated him.
This is the most crooked bank on earth. Whatever you do avoid them and find some place reputable.

Stay away they're a nightmare!!!!!!!!

Absolute nightmare!!!! They buy high interest student loans without your consent then even if you pay your student loans on the due date they take a week or more to process the payments and then report you 30-60 days late to credit bureaus.

I hate having citizens bank

I hate having citizens bank. When I finally get some money I will close this account and never go back. They have an overdraft fee of 35 dollars on every single purchase and they give you less than 24 hours to pay it back. I despise this bank and will only try and find the best bank with no overdraft fee in the future. For now I have to keep it because I’m in a disabled position, but when I get more able to move and get in there I will find a bank that doesn’t take advantage of people like me.

Great Service for a HELOC

I wanted a HELOC and they had the best rates. From application to funding was about 10 days. The whole process was painless and seamless. Julia Soane kept me informed every step of the way and explained the process clearly, I was a little nervous doing this. Tiffany Blehm was my remote notary and she was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had If you need a HELOC, I highly recommend.
